Royal Enfield Is Expected To Launch The Scrambler 650 Soon In The Indian Market
Royal Enfield has a couple of new models in the pipeline for the Indian market. One of the upcoming models, the Meteor 350 Fireball, has been spotted testing on Indian roads on a number of occasions. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the upcoming models will be launched either during the end of this year or early-2021.
According to a report by Bikewale, Royal Enfield has plans of launching a scrambler in the 650cc range. The company introduced the Interceptor and the Continental GT 650 twins in the Indian market in late 2018 and since then both the 650s have gained a lot of traction.
We expect the so-called Scrambler 650 to get a host of features that are lacking in the other twins, plus it will be a perfect bridge for the gap between the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. The scrambler is likely to get an updated suspension setup, all LED lighting, raised handlebars, alloy wheels, single side-mounted two-into-one exhaust, and most likely a digital instrument cluster. Also mechanically we expect the scramble model to be powered by the same 650cc parallel-twin engine.
In other recent Royal Enfield news, the company suspended its operation on March 23, as per the Government's orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the global crisis, RE registered 91 units in sales for the month of April. However, according to the new rules issued by the Government on May 1, with regards to resumption of manufacturing, industrial and commercial business activities, RE has commenced its operations at its manufacturing facility.
The company also recently said that they are looking into incorporating connected technology on their future motorcycles. This will be via Bluetooth, which will allow riders to connect their motorcycles to their smartphones.
Also, the 650 twins have been updated to meet BS6 emission norms in India. The Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT650 are powered by the same 649cc air and oil-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine producing 47bhp of power and a peak torque of 52Nm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox and features a slipper-clutch.
Thoughts About New Royal Enfield Scrambler
As we all know that Royal Enfield has a cult following across our country and people have been modifying their REs as per their needs. Just like all the other RE models, we think that the new Royal Enfield Scrambler will have a lot of buyers in the Indian market.
