Renault Captur BS6 Expected To Launch In India This Month With 1.5-Litre Petrol Engine
The Renault Captur BS6 is expected to launch in India sometime during this month. The upcoming Captur SUV is expected to be a petrol-only variant with manual and automatic transmission options.
According to Gaadiwaadi, Renault is expected to launch the BS6 Captur with the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, that currently powers the Nissan Kicks in India. Whether the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine that also powers the Nissan Kicks will be offered by the company during the time of launch remains to be seen.
Here are the power figure and torque figure of both engines that currently power the Nissan Kicks. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 105bhp and 142Nm of torque, and the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 154bhp and 254Nm of torque.
Both engines will come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, the 1.3-litre engine will be offered with an optional eight-speed CVT automatic transmission. We expect Renault to offer the BS6 Captur with similar engine and power train options, eventually.
Putting things in perceptive, the Captur BS4 models were offered with two 1.5-litre engine options. The oil burner produced 110bhp and 240Nm of torque. The k9k 1.5-litre diesel engine has not been updated to meet BS6 emission standards. As a result, the BS6 Nissan Kicks will be offered with two petrol engine options.
Apart from the new engine and transmission options, the BS6 Captur is expected to undergo subtle changes inside and out. This includes redesigned headlamps, taillamps, and an updated infotainment system to support the brand's latest connected technology.
However, the company has unveiled a new Renault Captur in the international-market with a mid-cycle facelift and several upgrades of the previous model. We expect Renault to launch the facelifted model in India later in the year — here are more details.
Once launched, the Renault Captur will rival the Nissan Kicks, the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos; among others in the Indian market. The BS6 Captur is expected to see a slight increase in its pricing because of an engine update. In comparison, the BS4 Captur retailed between Rs 9.49 lakh and 12.99 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi).
Thoughts About The Renault Captur BS6 Expected To Launch In India This Month
The Renault Captur, when launched, managed to grab the attention of the buyers in the segment, initially. The SUV appealed to buyers who were looking for a mid-size SUV with subtle looks. However, the attention faded away quickly and failed to make any noticeable impact with the sales numbers for the brand. However, the company aims to bring in more volumes with the upcoming Captur BS6 turbo-petrol variant.
