Renault Captur BS4 Removed From Website Ahead Of Updated BS6 Model Launch: Here Are The Details
Renault India has removed the Captur SUV from their official website. The Renault Captur is yet to be updated to comply with the BS6 emission norms in the Indian market, which was implemented from the start of April 2020.
The Renault Captur was first introduced in the Indian market, back in 2017. However, the SUV never really took off in terms of sales. The Captur SUV was based on the M0 platform, which is part of the Nissan-Renault partnership and also underpins the likes of the Renault Duster and the Nissan Terrano.
The BS4 model, which has been discontinued in the Indian market was powered by a choice of both petrol and diesel engines. This includes a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 105bhp and 140Nm of peak torque, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The diesel unit, on the other hand, came in the form of a 1.5-litre unit churning out 108bhp and 240Nm of peak torque, paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
Now, with the discontinuation of the Captur, the French carmaker currently has three models in its lineup: Kwid, Triber and Duster. All three models have already been updated to comply with the latest emission norms in India.
Renault is, however, set to introduce the BS6-compliant Captur SUV in the Indian market. The new BS6 Renault Captur is expected to arrive in India sometime in the next couple of weeks. Earlier reports suggested that the Captur BS6 SUV will be available in India with a petrol-powered engine.
This will come in the form of an updated version of the same 1.5-litre petrol unit. Power and torque figures are also expected to remain identical as well, while also being mated to the same five-speed gearbox.
Apart from the BS6-compliant engine, the upcoming Renault Captur could also feature a number of subtle cosmetic changes. This includes revisions to its design on both the exterior and interior of the SUV.
Thoughts About Renault Captur Being Removed From The Official Website
The Renault Captur is positioned in the highly sought after mid-size SUV segment in the Indian market. However, the Captur has failed to attract customers in the country. Renault is hoping that the new BS6 update to the Captur could boost sales in the future.
