Bookings for the 2020 City are currently being accepted for a nominal amount of Rs 5,000. The company is expected to launch the new sedan sometime next month. Honda has also begun production of the sedan is currently under at its production plant in Greater Noida plant, Uttar Pradesh.

Honda has officially revealed complete details of the fifth-generation City before it is launched. The soon-to-be-launched sedan features a host of upgrades over the new older-generation model inside and out.

The new-gen Honda City design is inspired by the Japanese Katana blade, a type of curved sword used by ancient samurai. It features a new headlamps cluster that now comes equipped with nine full-LED lights placed in series, an Integrated LED DRL and L-shaped LED turn signal. At the rear, it features a Z-shaped wrap-around LED tail-lamps. The sedan also comes equipped with a 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheel design with the dual-tone paint scheme.

On the inside, the City has been completely revised with a host of new features and design. The new design makes the interiors feel premium with easy to use features and functionality. The highlight of the interior changes is the all-new dashboard that houses an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a segment-first Alexa Remote voice assistance feature.

The sedan also features the brand's latest connected technology with the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) that can offer over 32 connected features. Other added equipment includes a new multi-functional steering wheel, a segment-first seven-inch TFT display with analogue dials flanked on either side.

Another segment feature on fifth-generation City is a G-meter to measure the cornering forces. This feature is usually only found on performance cars. The equipment list continues with the inclusion of paddle shifters, cruise control, a push-button start with keyless entry, an electric sunroof, and a revised climate control unit with physical rotary knobs, rear sunshade, and ambient lighting; among others.

The new Honda City comes equipped with updated safety equipment. This includes handling assist, hill start assist and dual front i-SRS airbags, a lane-monitoring camera on the left-wing mirror that will relay feed to the centre screen, vehicle stability assist, a (TPMS) Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, six airbags, ABS with EBD and more.

The 2020 Honda City will be offered with petrol and diesel powertrain options. The 1.5-litre i-VTEC (DOHC) Double Over-Head Cam engine will produce 120bhp and 145Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit will churn out 100bhp and 200Nm of torque. Both engines come mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox, with an optional seven-speed CVT automatic transmission offered on the petrol models.
