MG Motors Confirms No Job Cuts In 2020 Even Under Worst Case Scenario Amidst Covid-19
MG Motors has announced that there will not be any job cuts in the company in 2020. The company which has stopped production at its Halol plant has taken a pledge to not cut even a single job in 2020.
The announcement comes amidst the coronavirus pandemic affecting not only India but the entire world. MG Motor is one of the few companies which have made this announcement. The coronavirus lockdown has put most companies under financial pressure, however, few like MG have taken a stand not to cut jobs of employees during this tough situation.
The announcement from MG came through a tweet made by Rajeev Chaba, President & MD, MG Motor India. He stated,
"As corporates are busy making worst-case scenarios, we have taken a pledge that there will not be a SINGLE JOB CUT even in worst-case scenario for MG Motor in 2020."
The company is currently working on offering support to the central government and other healthcare authorities to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in India. The company recently announced a donation of Rs 2 crore towards procuring all the necessary medical aid for both doctors and COVID-19 patients.
The company recently also introduced the 'Ventilator Challenge'. This offers a chance to develop ventilators quickly, which can be then supplied to the market, in the most cost-effective manner. The contest winner will be given a cash price of Rs 10 lakh, while also providing production support for the ventilator at their Halol plant.
The company has also taken multiple steps to ensure customer safety as well. MG has launched an initiative which will see dealership representatives deliver customer cars to their homes.
The company will ensure that the car is properly sanitized and free of contamination, before handing over the keys to the customers. Dealership representatives delivering the car to the customers have also been trained and asked to strictly adhere to the process.
