Mercedes-Benz Restarts Production Under Rules Set By The Government
Mercedes-Benz India has announced that they will be restarting the production at their manufacturing facility at Chakan, Pune. The production will commence in a graded manner following the directives from the Government of Maharashtra to reopen and resume operations.
The company has taken all precautionary methods to keep the safety, health and well-being of its employees, customers and suppliers at the utmost. The production has begun with only the essential staff at the production facility, adhering to all the required social distancing protocols and mandated safety and sanitization measures implemented. On the other hand, the employees whose work deliverables are not required at the plant will continue to work from home.
Also, selected dealers across different regions have started operations as per the government guidelines and necessary permissions from local authorities. These dealerships are following protocols for maintaining a safe, secure and highly sanitized environment while interacting with customers, visitors and suppliers.
In other recent Mercedes-Benz India news, the company has started to sell all its cars across its portfolio online. Santosh Iyer, Vice President for Sales, and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz India, said, "Most customers do their research online today - they've mostly made up their mind by the time they come to the showroom. Our online sales platform will let customers buy a car online - including documentation - and one of the key differentiators for us will be an online sales concierge. The platform won't leave everything up to the customer - there will be consultation available for commercial offers, negotiation, and test drive and delivery as well. Everything on our sales platform is transparent - from availability to the spec of the car."
Mercedes-Benz also gave the 2020 C Class (C200) an upgrade by replacing its 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that came mated to a 48V mild-hybrid system. The new unit is a BS6 compliant 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that churns out 201bhp of power and 280Nm of peak torque. The engine continues to be mated to a nine-speed 9G-TRONIC transmission.
Thoughts About Mercedes-Benz Resuming Its Production
Mercedes-Benz along with other automobile manufacturers have started resuming work under the rules and regulations set by the Government so that the people can sustain themselves and their families. We hope that the auto industry survives the COVID-19 pandemic.
