Maruti S-Presso Secures Zero-Star Rating At Global NCAP Crash Tests: Watch The Test Video Here!
Maruti Suzuki S-Presso crash test results have been revealed. As per the tests conducted by Global NCAP, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso has secured a disappointing Zero-Star rating for adult occupancy and Two-Star Rating for child occupancy protection.
At the Maruti S-Presso crash tests, the mini-SUV was subjected to a frontal offset test at 64km/h. As per the results, the S-Presso scored 0 out of 17 points for adult protection and 13.84 out of 49 points for child occupancy protection.
As per the reports, the crash test dummies showed significant levels of injury to the driver's neck and chest region. The results also stated that the car's structure and body shell was rated unstable, as well as the front footwell area.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso does feature adequate safety features, however, it does miss out on a couple important ones as well. For example, the S-Presso comes with just a single driver's side airbag, it doesn't get seatbelt pretensioners; among others.
In terms of child occupancy protection, while the Maruti S-Presso does secure a two-star rating. Results stated that the presence of ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard across variants, could have further helped improve the score.
Alejandro Furas, Secretary General of Global NCAP said,
"It is very disappointing that Maruti Suzuki, the manufacturer with the largest share of the Indian market, offers such low safety performance for Indian consumers. Domestic manufacturers like Mahindra and Tata have demonstrated high levels of safety and protection for their customers, both achieving five star performance. Surely it's time for Maruti Suzuki to demonstrate this commitment to safety for its customers?"
David Ward, President of the Towards Zero Foundation said,
"We have seen important progress on car safety in India, with new legislation introduced by the government and manufacturers like Mahindra and Tata accepting the Global NCAP five star challenge and producing models which go well beyond minimum regulatory requirements."
"There is no place for zero rated cars in the Indian market. It remains a great disappointment that an important manufacturer like Maruti Suzuki does not recognise this."
Thoughts On The Maruti S-Presso Crash Test Results From Global NCAP
The Maruti S-Presso crash test showcases a disappointing results for the mini-SUV. The zero-star crash test ratings for the S-Presso is definitely expected to affect the perception of the car in the Indian market, especially when safety norms have been made more stringent.
