Mahindra eXUV300 India Launch & eKUV100 Deliveries Postponed: Here Are All The Details
Mahindra has stated that its India plans for the eXUV300 and the eKUV100 have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown. Both electric SUVs from Mahindra were first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, held in February.
In an interview with carandbike, Veejay Ram Nakra, Sales & Marketing, Mahindra said that the launch of the eKUV100 which was launched at the Auto Expo was expected to be available commercially in India by late-2020. However, due to the COVID-19 lockdown, this has been delayed.
The Mahindra eKUV100 will now be available in the market only sometime during the first half of 2021.
The launch of the Mahindra eXUV300, on the other hand, will take place sometime during the next financial year.
The Mahindra eKUV100 was launched in India at the 2020 Auto Expo. The electric SUV was priced at Rs 8.25 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi). This made it the most-affordable electric SUV in the Indian market.
The eKUV100 comes powered by a 40kW electric motor paired with a 15.9kWh lithium-ion battery. It produces 53bhp and 120Nm of peak torque and claims to offer a maximum range of 120km on a single charge.
The Mahindra eXUV300 was also showcased alongside the eKUV100 at the Auto Expo. The eXUV300 is expected to come with the same 40kW electric motor, however, it will have a higher power output and better range as well, mainly due to a larger battery.
Mahindra recently announced the start of their online retail platform for the Indian market, called the ‘Own-Online'. The new online retail platform offers customers the experience of purchasing a car, from the convenience of their homes — here are the details.
Apart from the new online retail platform, Mahindra also recently announced that they have slowly started resuming operations in India. The company is also working on the production of ventilators, PPEs and other medical equipment, which are supplied to doctors and healthcare officials treating COVID-19 patients in the country.
Thoughts About Mahindra eKUV100 & eXUV300 In India
The Mahindra eKUV100 & eXUV300 were among the awaited models from the brand in the Indian market. The eXUV300 once launched in India will rival the likes of the Tata Nexon EV, while the eKUV100 currently doesn't have any direct rivals in the Indian market.
