Kia Seltos Secures Three-Star Rating At Global NCAP Crash Tests: Watch The Test Video Here!
Kia Motors entered the Indian market in August 2019 with the Seltos. The mid-size SUV received an overwhelming response and even a year after its launch, has excellent demand in the country.

The Kia Seltos recently underwent the Global NCAP crash test, securing a decent three-star rating for adult occupancy protection. However, child occupancy protection on the Kia Seltos came out even lower with a two-star rating.
The Seltos SUV managed to score 8.03 points of the total 17 for adult protection. In the same tests, the Seltos secured 15 out of 49 points in the child occupancy protection. The Kia Seltos was subjected to a frontal offset test at a speed of 64km/h.

While the presence of basic safety features such as dual front airbags, seatbelt pretensioners and ABS, did help boost its overall score. The Seltos' body cell was deemed borderline unstable with room for improvement by Global NCAP. The results also stated that the Kia Seltos suffered because of the unstable front footwell, while chest, neck and head protection was of acceptable standard.

Coming to the child protection levels, the results stated that the Kia Seltos managed to offer limited protection to a 3-year old child dummy's head, while it managed to offer ‘adequate' protection for an 18-month old child dummy.

Another place where the Kia Seltos lost out was the missing three-point seatbelt for the centre passenger in the second row. The SUV also doesn't offer ISOFIX seat anchor points as standard across all variants - another area where the SUV could have easily performed better.

The Kia Seltos is currently one of the best-selling mid-size SUVs in the segment, with just its cousin, the Hyundai Creta performing better. The Kia Seltos is the brand's first ‘Made-in-India' product and is manufactured at their Anantapur facility, Andhra Pradesh.

Thoughts On The Kia Seltos Crash Test Results From Global NCAP
The Kia Seltos crash test ratings are decent to say the least. The popular mid-size SUV has lost out in a few places which could have been avoided, such as offering ISOFIX anchors as standard and also having seatbelts available for all passengers.
