Hyundai Xcent Removed From Official Website: Discontinued In India?

Hyundai has silently updated its India website, by removing the Xcent offering from its portfolio. The Hyundai Xcent compact-sedan seems to have been removed from the website, fueling speculations that it has been discontinued from the Indian market.

Hyundai India was expected to phase out the Xcent after the launch of their new compact-sedan, the Aura. The Hyundai Aura which was launched at the start of the year is the successor to the Xcent. However, Hyundai decided to continue selling the Xcent alongside the new compact-sedan offering.

The South Korean manufacturer seems to have finally phased out the old version, although the Xcent is still available in the brand's fleet version, offered exclusively with a CNG-powered unit. Called the Xcent Prime, the model continues to be available for the commercial taxi segment, similar to its rival, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire.

The Hyundai Xcent had been on sale for quite a while and was the compact-sedan version of the brand's Grand i10 offering. While the Xcent has been discontinued, Hyundai continues to sell the second-generation Grand i10, alongside its new NIOS offering. However, we do expect the brand to slowly phase out the old hatchback as well.

The Hyundai Xcent was powered by two engine options, both compliant with the latest BS6 emission norms. This included a 1.2-litre petrol producing 82bhp and 114Nm of peak torque and a 1.2-litre diesel churning out 74bhp and 190Nm of peak torque. Both engines came mated to a standard five-speed manual gearbox.

The Hyundai Xcent Prime which continues to be on sale is powered by the 1.2-litre unit, with a factory-fitted CNG kit. The Hyundai Xcent on CNG mode is said to produce 65bhp and 98Nm of peak torque, mated to the same five-speed manual transmission.
