Hyundai Venue BS6 Petrol Mileage Figures Revealed: Detailed Comparison To Its Rivals

The Hyundai Venue compact-SUV is offered with two petrol engines: a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol motor and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit. According to Autocar India, the BS6-compliant 1.2-litre engine powering the Venue returns an ARAI-certified mileage of 17.3km/l. In comparison, the same engine returned 17.5km/l in its BS4 version — 0.22km/l more than the BS6 engine.

The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine is offered with a five-speed manual and a seven-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The compact-SUV returns a mileage of 18.1kmp/l and 18.0km/l in its BS6 format, respectively. In comparison, the BS4 turbo-petrol manual returned more mileage — 0.17km/l (manual), and 0.15km/l (DCT) than the BS6 models.

The Hyundai Venue rivals the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Tata Nexon; among others in the Indian market. Apart from the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza petrol-automatic, the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol Venue is the only other SUV in the segment than the that returns a mileage of over 18.0km/l.

However, the Vitara Brezza petrol-automatic variant features the brand's ‘SVHS' mild-hybrid system and returns a mileage of 18.76km/l. The Venue 1.2 petrol variant also fairs well against its rivals as it is marginally out-performed by the Tata Nexon manual, which returns 17.4km/l.

Talking about the power output of the BS6 petrol engine of the Hyundai Venue, the 1.2-litre engine produces 82bhp and 115Nm of torque, while the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine churns out 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. The Hyundai turbo-petrol is the only compact-SUV to feature a DCT automatic in the segment.

Hyundai has also updated the BS6 models with a few changes. The entry-level E and mid-spec S variants now feature an (AMS) Alternator Management System, which is meant to reduce engine load. While the SX variant now comes with a (TMPS) Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, and the SX+ (automatic) and SX(O) variants get an additional 12V power outlet.
