South Korean automaker, Hyundai, is gearing up to launch the much-awaited Tucson facelift model in the Indian market. The SUVs launch was supposed to happen much earlier in the year, but the timeline was affected due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Ahead of its launch, Hyundai showcased the Tucson facelift model at Auto Expo 2020. According to the latest reports from Cardekho, the facelifted SUV is expected to be launched on July 14th in India.

The updated SUV features a few cosmetic changes along with a new automatic transmission for the diesel variants. Starting with exterior changes, the SUV receives a new cascading grille, reshaped headlights, tail-lights, and front and rear bumpers. However, the SUV's overall silhouette has been retained.

On the inside, it receives a new dashboard design with a free-standing eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the brand's ‘BlueLink' connected-car technology. It also features wireless chargers, a panoramic sunroof, and electric front-passenger seat adjustment.

The SUV also features three driving modes: Eco, Smart, and Pro, front parking sensors, hill descent control, hill assist, puddle lamps as standard, cornering lamps, a powered tailgate, electric parking brake, and a host of other features depending on the trim level.

The Tucson will be powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines. The naturally aspirated petrol unit produces 149bhp and 192Nm of torque, and comes mated to a six-speed torque converter unit.

While the turbo-diesel engine churns out 181bhp and 400Nm of torque and comes paired to an all-new eight-speed torque converter unit, with power being sent to all four wheels. Both engines will not be offered with any manual transmission options.

Once launched, the Hyundai Tucson will rival the Jeep Compass, the Honda CR-V, the Skoda Karoq and the upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross; among others in the Indian market. We expect the prices for the BS6 model to be slightly higher as compared to its BS4 counterparts due to the updates. The BS4 variants retailed between 19.0 lakh and 27.0 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi).
