Hyundai i20 Active Models Discontinued In India: Unlisted From Company Website
South Korean auto giant Hyundai has discontinued the i20 Active models. The Hyundai i20 Active received minor upgrades last November in terms of wireless charging and a new colour options.
Hyundai launched the i20 Active during 2015 and the crossover hatchback did well after launch. The car came loaded with features that included an Arkamys music system, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supported Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a smart key, a cooled glove box, and rear air conditioning vents.
Based on the current-generation Elite i20, the Active model arrived with two engine options - a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produced 82 brake horsepower and 115Nm of torque, and a 1.4-litre diesel engine that produced 89 brake horsepower and 220Nm of torque.
Transmission options included a five-speed manual for the petrol variants, and a six-speed manual transmission for the diesel models. The Hyundai i20 Active models are currently priced between Rs 7.74 lakh and Rs 9.93 lakh ex-showroom. The vehicle will be available until stocks last or up to 31 March this year.
Safety features on the Hyundai i20 Active include ABS with EBD, multiple airbags, reverse parking sensors, a reverse parking camera, impact sensing auto door unlock, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and an engine immobiliser.
As is, Hyundai has discontinued the models, however, industry speculation is that the i20 Active could make a come back after the Bharat Stage 6 rules are enforced. Hyundai has not released any information just yet.
In Hyundai related news, the company is ready to unveil the third-generation i20 model at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The stylish looking hatchback features design change and a host of other updates.
Expectations are that the new i20 model will feature a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 82 brake horsepower and 115Nm of torque; and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 120 brake horsepower and 173Nm of torque. To read more about the upcoming Hyundai i20, click here.
Thoughts About Hyundai Discontinuing The i20 Active Models
This is a good move. There isn't any point of manufacturing a model that isn't doing well. Hyundai can redirect the resources towards vehicles that are in high demand instead of wasting them on the i20 Active. Good move Hyundai!
