Honda Likely To Introduce A Hybrid Car In 2021: Read More To Find Out
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses across the globe have been affected. Our automobile industry has also taken a bit hit due to the nationwide lockdown. Since the Government has eased the lockdown, businesses have started to resume following certain rules and regulations.
According to the latest report by Livemint, despite all the crisis faced by the COVID-19 pandemic, Honda's plan to introduce a hybrid model in India, next year is still on track. Gaku Nakanishi, president and chief executive, Honda Cars India, has said that the introduction of the hybrid vehicle plan in the country has not changed. Honda has already invested almost 3 to 4 years in this project and has no plans of postponing it since a lot of time and money has been invested in it.
However, we do not have any information about the new hybrid model that the company is going to introduce in the market. But, we can expect that Honda might just launch the hybrid version of either the City or the next generation Jazz. As far as hybrid cars are concerned, Honda just had the Accord hybrid model on sale in the country. Unfortunately, the Accord hybrid was discontinued earlier this year. Mechanically, the Accord was powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine and two electric motors that put out 212bhp of combined power.
In other recent Honda news, the company launched the all-new fifth-generation City sedan in the Indian market. The all-new Honda City carries a price tag of Rs 10.90 lakh, ex-showroom (India) for the base and Rs 14.65 lakh, ex-showroom (India) for the top-end variant and is available in three variants: V, VX & ZX.
Mechanically, the all-new Honda City comes powered by two engines 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. The petrol engine pumps out 120bhp of power and 145Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the oil burner produces 100bhp of power and 200Nm of peak torque. Both engines are mated to a standard six-speed manual, with the petrol gets an optional seven-speed CVT automatic.
Thoughts About Honda Introducing A Hybrid Vehicle In India
Hybrid vehicles are really good when it comes to the mileage of the car or saving the environment from some of the toxic gasses from the engine. We hope that Honda launches its Hybrid vehicle soon in the Indian market, which will definitely gain a lot of traction.
