Honda Is Likely To Introduce The Turbo-Petrol City RS In India
Honda was supposed to launch the fifth-generation City earlier this year, but due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the launch had to be postponed. The company will be launching the all-new fifth-generation Honda City on July 15, 2020, in the Indian Market.
However, according to a report by Overdrive, the company is likely to introduce the Honda City RS (a turbo-petrol variant) alongside the fifth-generation Honda City in India. The Honda City RS is already available in Thailand. Mechanically, the RS variant uses a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo VTEC engine. The unit produces 121bhp of power and 173Nm of peak torque and is mated to a seven-step CVT gearbox which is also offered in the petrol City in India.
Compared to the regular City, the RS version also gets quite a few cosmetic and feature upgrades that include a blacked-out grille with RS -badging and a honeycomb pattern, a sportier bumper with slatted fog-lamp inserts, an Ignite Red paint job option, new 16-inch alloy wheels, a different rear bumper, blacked-out mirrors and a rear spoiler.
On the inside, the City RS gets an all-black interior, aluminium pedals and red contrasting stitching. Other than this many of the features of the Indian car will be available with the City RS.
We recently got a chance to drive the all-new honda city and for detailed information, you can go ahead and read the first-drive review. The new car measures around 4,549mm in length, 1,748mm in width, 1,489mm in height, and has a 2,600mm long wheelbase, which makes the new City slightly longer and wider than the outgoing model on sale. However, the wheelbase length of the new sedan remains the same as the fourth generation one.
Mechanically, the 2020 Honda City is offered with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.5-litre i-VTEC (DOHC) produces 120bhp of power and 145Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit churns out 100bhp of power and 200Nm of peak torque. Both the units come mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox, with an optional seven-speed CVT automatic transmission offered on the petrol variants only.
Thoughts About The Honda City RS
The Honda City RS will be available with a lot of features and especially, with the turbo petrol engine the car will fun to drive around the city. Once launched, the Honda City RS will go up against the likes of the Hyundai Verna and Skoda Rapid.
