Honda Cars India Ltd Sales Report For June 2020: The Company Registers 1,398 Units Sold
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, all businesses across the world either slowed down or came to a halt. The automobile industry was also affected and manufacturers had to take a huge hit as productions had to be stopped.
As our Government eased up lockdown restrictions, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) resumed production operations partially. The company sold 1,398 units in the domestic market for the month of June 2020, against 10,314 units sold in the domestic market for the same month in 2019. Honda also exported 142 units in June 2020.
Speaking on the current situation, Rajesh Goel, Sr. Vice President and Director, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd said, "Amidst the COVID-19 crisis, June was significant for us as we resumed our production partially from mid of the month while exercising utmost caution and highest safety protocols in our plants. The pace of deliveries is more than double of our dispatches in June. HCIL was in the middle of BS-6 transition when the lockdown happened, so ever since our production resumed, our priority is to quickly roll out the awaited models including All New City, New WR-V, Civic BS6 diesel and New Jazz. Three of these models will be launched in the next two weeks and accordingly we will progressively ramp up our volumes to cater to the market effectively."
In other recent Honda news, the company launched the all-new Honda WR-V in India at a starting price of Rs 8,49,900, ex-showroom. The new models feature updated exterior styling, rich interiors and BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines.
The Honda WR-V petrol models are powered by a BS6 compliant 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine. the unit produces 90bhp of power and 110Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. According to the company, the vehicle is said to offer 16.5km/l. On the other hand, the diesel models feature a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine that produces 100bhp of power and 200Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission and offers 23.7kmpl, claims the company.
