Great Wall Motors have unveiled the R1 electric hatchback in the Indian market. The R1 electric hatchback from Great Wall Motors has made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2020. The GWM R1 electric hatchback is said to be the most affordable car in the world at the moment.

Available in China, the R1 electric hatchback is priced at around Rs 7 - 8 lakh, when converted to Indian currency. The GWM R1 electric hatchback is one among the 10 models showcased by the Chinese brand at the Auto Expo 2020.

The all-electric hatchback comes with dimensions smaller than that of the Maruti Celerio. The small R1 electric is a proper city car, powered by a single electric motor paired with a 33kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which offers 47bhp and 125Nm of peak torque.

The car offers good levels of performance for the city, with a top speed claimed to be 100km/h. The GWM R1 also comes with both standard and fast-charging technologies, allowing the batteries to charge up to 80% in under 40 mins.

Although the car is considerably cheap, it still manages to offer a range of features and equipment. This includes a large nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, reverse parking sensors, ABS with EBD, two airbags, emergency braking and tyre pressure monitoring system; to name a few.

Thoughts On The Great Wall Motors R1 Electric Hatchback Unveiled At The Auto Expo 2020

Great Wall Motors made their presence felt on the first day of the Auto Expo 2020, unveiling a large number of products. While few of them have been confirmed to enter the Indian market in the coming months, the R1 electric isn't one of them. However, we would have liked to see the R1 electric car doing the rounds in Indian city streets.
