UPSRTC Charges Rs 10,000 As Minimum One-Way Cab Fare From Delhi Airport To Noida
UPSRTC (Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation) has announced that people wanting to travel from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport to Noida and Ghaziabad will have to shell out Rs 10,000 for a one-way cab ride.
The corporation has announced exorbitant prices for taxi rides from the Delhi International Airport to any destination within a 250km radius. The Rs 10,000 cab fare is a minimum amount customers will have to shell out. At this price, UPSRTC will provide a sedan, while an SUV will be priced even higher at Rs 12,000 for the same distance.
According to Hindustan Times, UPSRTC will charge customers extra for cab rides which are more than 250km. However, they also announced that corporation buses will be available for a minimum amount of Rs 1000.
They stated that non-air conditioned corporation buses will charge a minimum fare of Rs 1000 for distances up to 100km. While air-conditioned buses will have a slightly higher fare of Rs 1,320 for the same distance.
A letter issued by Raj Shekhar, Managing Director, UPSRTC stated that buses and taxis will be provided by the corporation to people who have been cleared by the Delhi government, with no signs of COVID-19.
The letter also stated that bookings for a sedan taxi for up to 250km from the airport would cost Rs 10,000, while an SUV taxi would cost Rs 12,000. Customers would have to shell out Rs 40 (in case of a sedan) and Rs 50 (in case of SUV) for each additional kilometre they travel.
Similarly, people travelling by non-air-conditioned buses will have to incur a price of Rs 1000 for the first 100km. The price will double for those travelling between 101 - 200km. The same pricing structure also stands for air-conditioned buses, although their minimum charge is Rs 1,320 for the first 100km.
The travellers are mainly people returning from foreign countries, amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic. All people returning to India will be kept in a 14-day quarantine and will be ferried from the airport to quarantine centres and hotels in the city using the corporation buses and taxis.
Thoughts On The High Fares Charged By UPSRTC To Ferry Foreign Return Passengers In Delhi
The cab and bus charges being levied for travel is exorbitant, to say the least. UPSRTC has remained silent on the huge prices, saying that they are only following the directives given by them from the headquarters.
