Tata Motors Working On Four New Product Launches By 2020-End — Here Is The Entire List!

Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of four new products for the Indian market. The four new upcoming Tata cars in India include both new models as well as facelift and updates of the existing products in the lineup.

Tata Motors will be launching the new products starting from this year's festive season all the way till the end of 2020. Having said that, here is the list of all the upcoming Tata cars in India:

Tata Altroz (New Premium Hatchback)

The Tata Altroz was first showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. The Altroz is the first premium hatchback offering from the Indian manufacturer. It is based on an all-new ‘ALFA' platform and will also be the second product from Tata to be part of the brand's latest ‘Impact 2.0' design language.

The Tata Altroz is expected to be powered by the same engines as on the Nexon and the Tiago models. This includes a 85bhp 1.2-litre petrol, 102bhp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 90bhp 1.5-litre diesel. The three engines will come mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Tata Altroz is expected to go on sale in the Indian market sometime during the upcoming festive season in the country. Once launched in India, it will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza (re-badged Baleno), Volkswagen Polo and the Honda Jazz.

Tata Buzzard/Cassini (New 7-Seater Flagship SUV)

Tata unveiled the production-spec version of their new 7-seater SUV at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, along with the Altroz. The new seven-seater SUV is based on the Harrier and will go on sale in the Indian market, sometime during the end of 2019 or early-2020.

The Tata Cassini will be powered by the same engine as on the Harrier. This includes a 2.0-litre diesel engine. It will, however, be tuned to produce a higher power output of 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. It will be mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.

The Tata Cassini (or Buzzard) is an extended version of the Harrier. It will be part of the same platform and will also feature a similar design, features and equipment list as well. Once launched in India, the Tata Cassini will be the flagship model in the brand's India line-up and will rival the likes of the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the Mahindra Alturas G4.

Tata H2X ‘Hornbill' (New Micro-SUV)

The Tata H2X was the third model showcased at the Geneva Motor Show, alongside the Buzzard and the Altroz. The Tata ‘H2X' is the concept version of their upcoming micro-SUV offering, internally codenamed the ‘Hornbill'.

The Tata Hornbill will be based on the same ‘ALFA' platform as the Altroz premium hatchback. It will feature a completely new design, with squared off edges, sharp lines and a very sporty and aggressive stance. The Tata Hornbill will be positioned below the Nexon offering in the product range and is expected to be launched sometime in the second half of 2020.

Tata Harrier BS6 Automatic (Updated Model)

Tata Motors is working on an update for its popular Harrier SUV in the Indian market. Launched earlier this year, the Tata Harrier will receive an update, making it compliant with the upcoming BS-VI emission norms of April 2020.

Apart from the BS-VI update, the engine will also be tuned to produce a higher power output, similar to the Jeep Compass (173bhp and 350Nm of torque). The updated version of the Harrier will also receive an automatic gearbox option; the same one will also feature on the seven-seater Cassini SUV.

The BS-VI compliant Tata Harrier update has already been spied testing ahead of its launch. Tata will also equip the new Harrier update with a bunch of new features as well, including the addition of an electric sunroof.

Thoughts On The Upcoming Tata Cars In India

Tata Motors looks to be at a product offensive in the Indian market. The company has already announced four new products including three new models and an update on an existing product. With the upcoming BS-VI emission norms, we can also expect a few other important models to be updated as well, while some will be discontinued.
