Toyota Innova Crysta & Fortuner Prices To Be Increased In The Coming Months
Toyota India is working on updating its products to comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission norms. The company will start out with its two most popular offerings: Innova Crysta & Fortuner; expected to be updated in the coming months.
With the arrival of the BS-VI updates on the Toyota Innova Crysta & Fortuner, the company will also increases prices of both the models. According to reports by Gaadiwaadi, the prices of the Toyota Innova Crysta and the Fortuner is said to increase by up to Rs 5 lakh, ex-showroom.
While Toyota is planning to update the petrol versions of all its models in the Indian market soon. The company is finding it infeasible to update the diesel engines to comply with the BS-VI norms.
Toyota recently announced that its popular MPV offering, the Innova Crysta will soon receive a petrol-hybrid version; replacing the diesel unit in the lineup. Toyota is said to discontinue the diesel variants on most of its products in the market, due to the difference in prices expected compared to its petrol counterpart; once the BS-VI emission norms are implemented.
The Toyota Innova Crysta is currently available in three engine options: two diesel and one petrol. The petrol engine on offer includes a 2.7-litre four-cylinder unit producing 160bhp and 245Nm of peak torque. The engine will be mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission unit.
The diesel engine options on the Toyota Innova Crysta include a 2.4-litre unit and a 2.75-litre unit. The smaller capacity engine pumps out 150bhp and 343Nm of torque; mated to a five-speed manual as standard. The larger engine, on the other hand, churns out 173bhp and 360Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a six-speed sequential automatic as standard.
The Toyota Fortuner is available in both petrol and diesel. This includes a 2.7-litre petrol and a 2.75-litre diesel. The petrol engine produces 160bhp and 245Nm of torque. It comes mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. Similarly, the diesel unit churns out 173bhp and 420Nm of torque mated to the same transmission options as well.
The Prices for the Toyota Innova Crysta and the Fortuner start at Rs 14.93 lakh and Rs 27.83 lakh, respectively. Both prices are ex-showroom (Delhi). Once the two models have been updated to comply with the BS-VI emission norms, these prices will increase by up to Rs 5 lakh.
Thoughts On The Toyota Innova Crysta & Fortuner Price Hike
The Toyota Fortuner and Innova Crysta are among the two most popular offerings from the Japanese brand in the Indian market. The Toyota Innova Crysta has been one of the top-selling MPVs in the country, rivaling the likes of the Mahindra Marazzo and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
The Toyota Fortuner is also the leader in the full-size SUV segment in the market. It rivals the likes of the Ford Endeavour and the Mahindra Alturas G4 in the segment.
