Tesla Sentry Mode — The Guardian Angel Of Your Tesla
Tesla has introduced 'Sentry Mode' for its all-electric cars. The security feature will be rolled to all Tesla products as an OTA (Over-The-Air) update in phases; starting with the Model 3 and gradually in the Model S sedan and Model X crossover. However, Tesla models built before August 2017 will not get Sentry Mode.
Tesla cars have always been popular for their cool and sophisticated technologies that stand apart in the automotive market. Besides proving that electric vehicles (EVs) can be fast, good-looking and desirable, Tesla models also come with many features that are aimed to create an amazing ownership experience.
Besides Sentry Mode, Tesla has also introduced an industry-first Dog Mode which, as the name suggests, is aimed to make the car pet-friendly. Pets can be left in the car with the comfort of a cozy cabin temperature. With Dog Mode activated, the large touchscreen unit will notify passersby that the animals are safe as well.
Sentry Mode, on the other hand, is basically an advanced anti-theft alarm system. It utilises Tesla models' external cameras to detect potential risks. Sentry Mode has three states of action: Standby, Alert and Alarm. It has to be manually activated each time the owner wishes to have the extra protection.
Upon activation, the car enters Standby and the cameras start recording the surroundings. If a low-scale threat (such as a person leaning on the car) is detected, the Tesla enters Alert state. Finally, if there is a break-in attempt, the car will enter Alarm state. The car alarms will then go off while the infotainment system maximises its screen brightness and plays music at the +highest volume.
As mentioned before, Tesla sells three models today: Model 3, Model S and Model X. Besides these models, the California-based electric mobility brand is also developing the Tesla Roadster sportscar and Tesla Semi commercial truck. Both were unveiled at same event back in November 2017.
Thoughts On Tesla Sentry Mode
Tesla models have already got a range of odd yet interesting quirks and features ranging from the Model X's Falcon doors, the ability to receive new features through a software update (just like in a smartphone); self-driving capabilities and a lot others. Compared to these, the new Sentry Mode is more about function than fancy. It will surely make your Tesla much safer.
