Tesla Cybertruck Gets Trolled By Lego, Durex, Rezvani Motors & Others
The Tesla Cybertruck has been in the news ever since it was unveiled last week. Tesla unveiled the futuristic pickup truck at the Tesla Design Studio in California on 21 November. Ever since then, Tesla has been trolled by thousands, thanks to an incident that occurred at the time of the unveiling.
Tesla claims the Cybertruck's body is extremely strong and near-impenetrable. It is made of ultra-hard 30X Cold-Rolled Stainless Steel which is extremely strong. The company claims to have used ‘Tesla Armoured Glass' for the windows and windshield up front.
According to Tesla, the polymer-layered composite can absorb and redirect impact force, making it near indestructible. The claims made by Tesla are massive and the car certainly seems to have the design to match.
There is no doubt about the technical prowess of Tesla's engineers and therefore Tesla CEO Elon Musk attempted to demonstrate the glass' toughness on-stage. The Tesla Armoured Glass withstood the first few blows from a sledgehammer.
Elon Musk then went on to ask Tesla lead designer Franz von Holzhausen to throw metal balls at the Cybertruck's windows. A video from On Demand News shows the Tesla Armoured Glass gave way and shattered. Though the metal balls didn't really go through the glass, it was an embarrassing moment for Tesla.
Presuming that the front window failed, Fanz von Holzhausen then threw the next metal ball at the rear window and that too shattered. Elon Musk brushed the incident aside and jokingly said that it would be fixed on the production variant. Netizens however, didn't let go of the incident.
Almost immediately, the incident gave birth to memes and trolls. Several media houses and large companies too joined in to troll the Tesla Cybertruck. Rezvani Motors, a USA-based boutique car manufacturer posted a challenge to Tesla on Instagram.
Its posts said, "Hey @teslamotors at Rezvani Motors we don't toss balls at our vehicles. We challenge you to a real ballistics test. Name the date, we'll bring out 1,000hp Military Edition TANK!"
Yet another post said, "@teslamotors bring your balls and Rezvani we will bring the AK, we challenge @teslamotors to a real ballistics test." It wasn't just automotive manufacturers who trolled Tesla.
Well-known building-blocks and toy-maker Lego too, trolled Tesla. Lego put out a picture of a small Lego brick with wheels under it. The caption read, "The evolution of the truck is here. Guaranteed shatterproof." It was a direct dig at the Tesla Cybertruck. The picture got thousands of shares and likes.
If that wasn't embarrassing enough, condom brand Durex too went ahead to troll tesla. The picture uploaded by Durex said, "Shoot as hard as you can and it still won't break!" The caption said, "We could showcase it to you, but let's rather not! #CyberTruck."
Well, Elon Musk and Tesla certainly know how to capture the attention and imagination of people. Despite the embarrassing moments on-stage, the Tesla Cybertruck managed to receive over 2,50,000 bookings in just a week.
The Tesla Cybertruck features a geometric shape with lots of straight lines and flat panels. It is also very aerodynamic in nature. It will be made available in three variants - Single-Motor RWD, Dual-Motor AWD and Tri-Motor AWD which will be the most powerful variant. The top-spec Tri-Motor AWD variant has a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of 2.9 seconds.
In terms of range, the top-spec variant does 500 miles (804 kilometres on one charge). The specifications of the Tesla Cybertruck certainly are impressive and we hope the design team at Tesla does something to make it look more attractive.
Thoughts On Tesla Cybertruck Being Trolled By Lego, Durex, Rezvani Motors, Etc.
All companies expect its product unveil to be a proud moment. In some rare cases though, it turns out to be an embarrassing moment. Apple has had such moments when its then-new phones didn't respond to inputs in front of the world's media.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India had one such moment when the Honda Grazia wheelied off the stage and crashed when an official twisted the throttle by mistake. However, none of them had it as bad as Tesla, when it comes to being trolled. Do you know any other brands that trolled the Tesla Cybertruck? Do let us know in the comments.
