Tata Tigor EV To Be Deployed In Bangalore, Chennai And Hyderabad By Capgemini India

The Tata Tigor EV (Electric Vehicles) will be supplied to more cities in India in the coming months, by Capgemini India. The technology services company will be deploy the Tigor EV in three major cities initially: Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.

The electric vehicles from Tata Motors will be used at their respective campuses in these cities in order to promote a sustainable environment. The Indian automotive company has partnered with Karthik Travels to ensure a smooth induction of the Tigor EV fleet to the Capgemini campuses.

The first batch of Tata Tigor EVs were handed over by Tata Motors to the officials from Capgemini India at an event held at their Bangalore Campus. Speaking on the occasion, Shailesh Chandram, President of Electric Mobility Business and Corporate Strategy at Tata Motors shared, "We are delighted to partner with Capgemini on their thoughtful initiative of promoting zero-emission vehicles for the employee mobility needs. Tigor EV, recently awarded as the 'Electric Car of the Year' by Assocham India', will join Capgemini's existing fleet of cars. Tata Motors will continue to work towards bringing aspirational e-mobility solutions for the customers, leading the drive towards faster adoption of electric vehicles in the country."

Regarding the Tigor EV's public launch, the company aims to do that in phases in order to have enough time to set up enough charging infrastructure across the country. Previously, Tata Motors was supplying the all-electric compact-sedan only to Energy Efficiency Service Limited (EESL). Meanwhile, the company is also readying the launch of the Tiago EV to rival the upcoming Maruti Wagon R Electric.

The Tata Tigor EV is powered by a 30kW motor, sourced from Electra EV. The powertrain has a claimed range of 130km on a single charge, along with a top speed of 100km/h. The motor is coupled to a 216Ah 72V battery which can be charged up to 80 per cent in six hours.

The Tigor EV is also available with an optional fast charging system which reduces the charging time to just 1.5 hours.

Thoughts On The Tata Tigor EV

The Tata Tigor Electric is certainly an interesting choice for an urban environment, but their popularity is still at a nascent stage since they have not gone on general sale. With better supporting infrastructure and popularity through Capgemini, the Tigor EV might become a choice worth making in the not-too-distant future.
