Tata Motors Discontinue Certain Variants Of Safari, Zest And Bolt Models In India

Tata Motors has discontinued certain variants of the Safari, Zest and Bolt models in the Indian market. According to reports from Rushlane, variants of all three models without the mandatory safety features have been discontinued from production.

Reports suggests that Tata Motors has stopped production of certain variants of the Safari, Zest and Bolt models, which do not comply with the safety norms. The variants will however continue to remain of sale until stocks last.

Tata Safari, Zest & Bolt Variants Discontinued

The variants discontinued on the Tata Safari include the base LX and the top VX 4x4 variants. Similarly, the variants on the Tata Bolt and Zest which have been discontinued include XE and XM (petrol and diesel).

The remaining variants of all three models will continue to remain on sales, as all of them do feature airbags and ABS with EBD, as mandated by the Government. These variants have also received a minor safety update including the addition of reverse parking sensors among others to comply with the safety norms.

Tata Safari, Zest & Bolt Variants Discontinued

The sales of the three models in the Indian market has been poor for quite a while now, with low demand. However, Tata Motors has decided to keep the models on sale in the Indian market. Tata Motors has also reported that they might discontinue the production of diesel engines altogether ahead of the upcoming emission norms.

Tata Motors is yet to announce the models which will face the axe, ahead of the upcoming emission and crash test regulation implementation. It is likely that the brand might discontinue its old and ageing models, giving way to newer models in its lineup.

Tata Safari, Zest & Bolt Variants Discontinued

The Tata Zest and Bolt models might continue to remain on sale until the April 2020 deadline as it is expected to comply with the crash test results of October 2019. However, the Tata Safari might not comply with the upcoming crash test norms.

Thoughts On The Tata Safari, Bolt & Zest Model Discontinuation

Tata Motors are likely to completely revamp their portfolio in the Indian market. They might discontinue their older models, to make way for the newer ones. This include the Tata Harrier, Altroz, Cassini (7-seater Harrier) and the micro-SUV (H2X) in the Indian market. It will be interesting to see the changes in Tata's lineup over the next few months.
