Tata Motors Increases Price Of The Harrier By Rs 30,000 Across All Variants

Tata Motor announced a price hike on all variants of the Harrier. A standard increase of Rs 30,000 has been brought in to effect. This marks the first time that Tata Motors has increased prices of the premium SUV since its 23 January launch.

The Tata Harrier is powered by a Kryotec 2.0-litre turbocharged BS-IV compliant diesel engine that produces 138bhp of power and 350 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The Tata Harrier is available only with diesel engine for now, and there are no option for an automatic transmission.

The Tata Harrier features like Xenon HID projector headlamps, dual function LED DRLs, 3D LED tail lamps and 17-inch alloy wheels. The SUV features premium leather seat upholstery, a Floating Island 8.80-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible, fold-able 60:40 rear seat splits, and an instrument cluster with 7-inch colour TFT display inside the cabin.

The Tata Harrier competes with the Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta. Another challenge to the premium SUV is the soon to be launched MG Hector, bookings for which have already begun.

Available in five different colours — Calisto Copper, Thermisto Gold, Ariel Silver, Telesto Grey and Orcus White colour options, the Tata Harrier is based on Land Rover's D8 platform, and is the first product from the Indian automobile major to sport the Impact 2.0 Design Language.

The Tata Harrier now retails between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 16.55 lakh, as compared to the older prices of between Rs 12.69 lakh and Rs 16.25 lakh. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom (India).

Thoughts About The Price Hike On The Tata Harrier

We're absolutely unsure why Tata Motors decided to increase the price of the Harrier. One possibility is that Tata Motors wants to restrict demand during the lean phase and off set stocks. And to be honest, wee can't really think of any.
