Tata Harrier Seven-Seater 'H7X' Spied Testing — Might Be Introduced With AMT Gearbox

Tata Harrier seven-seater H7X spied testing. The seven-seater version of the Tata Harrier is scheduled to be launched in India this year, with its global debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

Tata Motors is set to introduce the seven-seater Harrier SUV in India. The seven-seater SUV, based on the Harrier will be showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

Ahead of its launch in the Indian market, fresh spy images of the seven-seater Harrier has been leaked online. The spy pics from Autocar India, showcase a completely camouflaged seven-seater SUV testing on the Indian roads.

The seven-seater SUV, based on the Harrier will use the same OMEGA architecture (modified Land Rover D8 platform). It will also use Tata Motors' latest 'Impact 2.0 design language.The seven-seater SUV codenamed 'H7X' will be positioned above the five-seater Harrier in the product lineup.

Tata confirmed the launch of the seven-seater variant for the Indian market, through a teaser shared at the 2018 Auto Expo. Since then, the car has been spotted testing in India on multiple occasions. The seven-seater H7X SUV is said to be 62mm longer than the Harrier SUV and will also feature a larger rear-quarter glass.

As seen from the spy pics, the seven-seater SUV seems to sit a bit lower to the ground while also sporting wider tyres and a new set of alloy wheels. The H7X might also carry forward design cues from the Harrier SUV, including a prominent humanity line, patterned fog lamps, LED DRLs, sporty bumper, smoked tail lamps and an electric sunroof.

Inside as well, the seven-seater SUV will come feature-packed. Some of the features expected on the H7X SUV: leather seats and dashboard, large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink.

Safety features on the Tata seven-seater H7X include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking camera/sensors, brake assist, traction control, ESP and a terrain management system similar to that on the Land Rover.

In terms of mechanicals, the seven-seater H7X SUV will carry forward the same 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine. However, the H7X will get a higher state-of-tune. The engine will continue to be mated to the same six-speed manual gearbox. Although an AMT transmission which is already in the works might also make its debut on the production-spec H7X.

Thoughts On The Seven-Seater Tata Harrier SUV

The seven-seater SUV will be the third product launch by Tata Motors in 2019. Tata Motors recently launched the five-seater Harrier and is now preparing for the launch of their premium hatchback, the 45X. Once launched in India, the seven-seater SUV will take on rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Honda CR-V and the Mahindra Alturas G4.
