Tata H7X (Harrier 7-Seater) To Debut At 2019 Geneva Motor Show — What You Can Expect
Tata H7X aka Harrier 7-seater to unveil at Geneva Motor Show 2019. What can you expect from the much-awaited Tata Harrier 7-seater or H7X SUV?
Tata Motors will be introducing four new products at the upcoming 2019 Geneva Motor Show; one of them being the 7-seater Harrier aka Tata H7X SUV. It will be showcased as a concept format. The Indian company is busy developing the final product and is expected to launch it at Auto Expo 2020.
Ahead of its official unveiling, the Tata H7X 7-seater SUV was spotted multiple times in a test mule avatar on Indian roads. Though minimal design details are evident under the heavy camouflage, one can easily make out the elongated length to accompany an extra row of seating at the rear — check out the spy pics.
As of now, nothing much is known about the 7-seater Tata H7X; except the fact that it will share a lot in common with its regular 5-seater sibling, the Harrier. The H7X will not be just an elongated Harrier with two extra seats, but engineered from the ground up to be as capable and desirable.
It is only recently when Tata Motors launched the all-new Harrier 5-seater SUV at a competitive starting price of Rs 12.69 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). We have already driven it and were very impressed with the overall package — read our detailed Tata Harrier review to know more.
One of the main highlights of the Tata H7X will be its Hyundai-sourced six-speed automatic transmission. The Tata Harrier does not come in an automatic format, at present. It gets only a six-speed manual and the automatic unit mentioned will eventually make its way to the Harrier.
Regarding other specifications, it will employ the same 2.0-litre Kryotec four-cylinder diesel engine, but re-tuned to produce an output close to 170bhp and 370Nm of torque. In comparison, the Tata Harrer makes 140bhp and 350Nm to propel its front-wheel-drive architecture. Whether the 7-seater Tata H7X will come in an all-wheel-drive format is something a good majority of Indians are eagerly waiting to know.
Once launched, the Tata H7X could be an affordable alternative to the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Honda CR-V and Mahindra Alturas G4. 'Value for money' is one of the selling points of the Tata Harrier and the same is expected to be the case for its 7-seater avatar.
Thoughts On The Upcoming Tata H7X
The Tata Harrier has made a strong statement in the five-seater SUV segment as well as on the entire Indian automotive market. It offers a great driving experience along with class-leading levels of equipment. The 7-seater H7X will be a compelling choice and might also tick a few boxes eft unchecked by the Harrier.
