2019 Geneva Motor Show: Tata Buzzard (H7X) Concept SUV Unveiled

Tata Motors has unveiled their seven-seater 'Buzzard' concept SUV at the ongoing 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The Tata Buzzard (seven-seater H7X) concept SUV is among the four new models premiered at the International Motor Show event.

The Tata Buzzard Concept SUV is based on the five-seater Harrier SUV, recently launched in the Indian market. The seven-seater Buzzard SUV bears a strong resemblance to the Harrier and is expected to be launched in India by either late-2019 or early-2020.

The Tata Buzzard, previously called the H7X will be based on the same OMEGA platform, which underpins the Harrier in the Indian market. It will also carry forward Tata Motor's latest 'Impact 2.0' design language.

The Buzzard SUV has been spied testing on multiple occasions in India. The seven-seater Buzzard will also feature the same wheelbase as the Harrier; measuring 2,741mm. However, the length of the Buzzard SUV is 62mm longer than the Harrier, which will help the SUV accommodate a third-row of seats.

To differentiate between the Harrier and the Buzzard, Tata Motors has provided the seven-seater SUV with footboards, roof rails and larger 18-inch alloy wheels.

In terms of mechanicals, the Tata Buzzard will carry forward the same 2.0-litre 'Kryotec' diesel engine. However, Tata Motors will tune the engine to produce a higher power output on the Buzzard. The diesel unit is expected to churn out 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. It will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and will also receive the optional six-speed torque converter automatic transmission; sourced from Hyundai.

The Tata Buzzard will launch after the Altroz premium hatchback in the Indian market. Once launched in India, the Buzzard will be the new flagship product from the brand. It will be positioned above the Hexa while also being priced at a premium.

Apart from the unveiling of the Buzzard Concept SUV, Tata Motors also unveiled the H2X micro-SUV concept, production-spec Altroz hatchback and the Altroz EV concept. The H2X micro-SUV concept showcases the design language for the upcoming Hornbill SUV, which will rival the likes of the Mahindra KUV100 in the Indian market.

Thoughts On The Tata Buzzard Seven-Seater Concept SUV

Tata Motors had confirmed the seven-seater version of the Harrier quite a while back for the Indian market. Once launched in the market, the Tata Buzzard will rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Mahindra Alturas G4 in the Indian market.
