Tata Altroz To Be Unveiled In December: India Launch Early 2020
Indian auto manufacturer, Tata Motors, has announced that its premium hatchback, the Altroz will be revealed in December this year. The Altroz sparked interest when it was showcased as a concept vehicle (called the 45X Concept) during Auto Expo 2018.
The soon-to-be revealed premium hatchback will the first vehicle to feature Tata's ALFA architecture, and is slated to be the widest car in its segment. There is speculation that the Altroz will also feature the smallest wheelbase in the segment. Reports also suggest that the ALFA architecture will be used to build a mini-SUV in the future.
While there is limited information about the interiors of the all new Tata Altroz, the hatchback is expected to arrive with a huge list of creature comforts and connectivity features, including (but not limited to) a large touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and two-zone climate control.
Exteriors of the Tata Altroz are expected to feature the IMPACT 2.0 design language that made it's debut with the Tata Harrier. The premium hatch back will also feature a boot that allows for 341-litres of luggage space.
The all new Tata Altroz was to be launched in August this year, but the company pushed the launch to early next year in order to make the engines BS-VI compliant. Petrol models will feature a 1.2-litre (also seen on the Tiago), and a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine (also seen on the Nexon) on top end variants.
The diesel variants will feature a 1.5-litre engine that currently produces 90bhp of power, although we expect the engine to arrive in a different state of tune. Transmission options for both petrol and diesel variants will be restricted to manuals for now, with an automatic slated for a later launch.
Thoughts About The Unveil Scheduled For 4 December
Yes, we're really looking forward to seeing this car in the flesh, and we're waiting to test the vehicle out. We're not worried about the safety features on the Altroz, simply because Tata has always made solid cars. What we're really interested in are the interiors and all the creature comforts that will make this car a premium buy.
