Spy Pics: Tata Altroz Premium Hatchback Spied Testing
Indian automotive giant Tata Motors revealed the Altroz premium hatchback at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March. However, before its expected launch in India later this year ahead of the festive season, Tata Motors is continiuing to put the Altroz to the test, as the images snapped by Carwale's automotive paparazzi.
The test vehicle for the Tata Altroz was spotted sporting some rather heavy camouflage. However, the final production car is expected to look exactly like the car revealed at the Geneva Motor Show. The front end of the car features the new version of Tata's humanity line grille as per the carmaker's Impact Design 2.0 design philosphy. The front end also features the split headlamp design first seen on the Tata Harrier SUV that was launched in January. The sculpted sides of the car and the smoked tail lights are also expected to be retained.
What we don't know yet is what we will find under the sculpted bonnet of the new Tata Altroz. Reports suggest that the new premium hatchback from Tata Motors will feature the same set of engines that are found in the Nexon compact SUV. This means that the new Altroz will feature a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine expected to push out around 100bhp and 140 Nm of torque along with a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine that will crank out around 90bhp. Another engine option expected to make its way under the bonnet of the new Altroz from Tata Motors is the Tiago hatchback's naturally aspirated version of the 1.2-litre petrol which is expected to put out around 84bhp in the Altroz.
Inside, the Altroz is expected to be quite feature laden with a large infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity options and climate control among many other options. The new Altroz is also expected to feature multiple airbags, ABS with EBD and all the other new safety features expected to help it comply with the Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program norms. With Tata Motors claiming that its new vehicles based on the Alpha and Omega platforms will rate 5 stars in safety tests, expect the new Altroz to be among the safest cars around.
THe new Tata Altroz will compete with the likes of the newly updated Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 and the Volkswagen Polo.
