Tata Cassini (7-Seater Harrier) SUV Spied Yet Again Ahead Of Launch In Late-2019

Tata Motors earlier this year, confirmed a seven-seater SUV for the Indian market. The new seven-seater SUV, to be called the 'Cassini' is said to go on sale in the Indian market sometime during the later part of 2019.

Tata first showcased the seven-seater SUV at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, as the Buzzard. The seven-seater SUV is based on the Harrier SUV, which has been received extremely well in the Indian market.

The seven-seater Harrier-based SUV, likely to be called the ‘Cassini' has been spied testing in India on multiple occasions. However, the latest spy pics from Rushlane, reveals a new set of LED taillights on the upcoming seven-seater Cassini SUV; different from those seen on the Harrier.

Other styling differences between the Cassini and the Harrier also include the addition of a larger rear quarter glass, extended rear overhangs, different styling for the rear bumper and boot lid and larger 18-inch alloy wheels with disc brakes on all four sides.

The Tata Cassini SUV will be the new flagship SUV from the brand once launched in the Indian market. It will be positioned above the Hexa SUV in the company's product lineup. Similar to the Harrier, the Cassini will also be part of Tata's latest ‘Impact 2.0' design language and the OMEGA platform.

The new seven-seater Harrier-based Tata SUV is said to be longer than its five-seater sibling by around 62mm, allowing for more space to fit the third-row of seats. In terms of features, the Tata Cassini will come with all the features seen on the Harrier, along with a number of additional equipment as well.

Tata Motors is testing out the automatic transmission on the Harrier, along with the upcoming BS-VI engine update. The engine on the Cassini is expected to be BS-VI compliant from the start.

Thoughts On The Tata Cassini SUV

The Tata Cassini was first showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The car will be the new flagship model for the brand in the Indian market and is expected to be priced slightly higher than the Harrier. Once launched in the market, the Tata Cassini will take on the likes of the Mahindra Alturas G4, Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour in the seven-seater SUV segment.
