Ssangyong Tivoli Facelift Spotted Testing In India — Can We Expect It To Be Launched?

The Ssangyong Tivoli facelift has been spotted testing in India. The Tivoli is not a stranger to the Indian market as we already have the recently launched XUV300 which is also based on the same X100 concept that the Ssangyong Tivoli is.

However, the new Ssangyong Tivoli facelift has been spotted in India for the very first time and the details make it obvious that the small SUV is intended for international markets. The Ssangyong Tivoli facelift comes with a new overall design.

The front end does feature several changes including new headlamps with simple LED DRLs. The bumper has been redesigned and is now dual-tone in colour with black inserts. Also seen are circular fog lamps and a large trapezoidal air dam.

The ORVMs come with integrated turn signal indicators. Also spotted on the SUV were roof rails. There were no images of the side profile and the rear of the Ssangyong Tivoli facelift, hence we cannot comment on that.

Only the hood of the Ssangyong Tivoli facelift was heavily camouflaged while a peak through the large windscreen reveals that it is a Left-Hand Drive (LHD) vehicle. Also seen are the Tamil Nadu temporary registration plates. Indian regulations do not allow LHD vehicles to be registered in India.

All this leads us to believe that the Ssangyong Tivoli facelift spotted in India was in-fact not being tested for launch in the Indian market, but was only being tested for durability or for data-logging.

The Ssangyong Tivoli for International markets is powered by 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options. The four-cylinder petrol motor produces a maximum power output of 124bhp and a peak torque output of 157Nm. The diesel motor on the other hand produces a maximum power output of 113bhp and a peak torque output of 300Nm.

Transmission options include 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. The Ssangyong Tivoli facelift is expected to get a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an output in the range of 161bhp.

Thoughts On Ssangyong Tivoli Facelift Spotted Testing In India

Ssangyong as a brand couldn't really gain traction in the Indian market. The Ssangyong Rexton didn't really perform excellently in terms of sales but the Mahindra Alturas G4 which is based on the Ssangyong Rexton performs comparatively better.

In the same way, Mahindra has already launched the XUV300 in the Indian market and the SUV is selling very well indeed. It is for the same reason that Ssangyong will not be launching the Tivoli facelift in the Indian market.
