Bugatti Veyron Designer Jozef Kabaň Now Joins Rolls-Royce As Head Of Design
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has appointed Jozef Kabaň as its head-of-design. The new appointment comes after the former design head Giles Taylor left the position in 2018. Jozef Kabaň will be taking up one of the most important roles in the iconic British marque and aims to take the design of Rolls-Royce's cars to the next level.
For such an important role, it was obvious that Rolls-Royce would make no mistake in choosing the best. Jozef Kabaň studied in Bratislava and London and graduated with a Master of Art degree in Car Design from the Royal College of art, London. At the tender age of 20, he joined the VW Group and became one of their youngest designers.
The greatest achievement so far would probably have been the fact that he was appointed as project lead for the Bugatti Veyron in 1998. Well, we all know the Bugatti Veyron and what exactly that car is capable of. It is one of the most iconic car designs ever, and it is Jozef Kabaň who was in-charge of it. He then worked at Audi and Skoda before joining BMW in 2017.
Having worked as the head of design for BMW since 2017, it can be said that Jozef Kabaň has one of the strongest resumes out there in the world of car design. He is now set to bring that expertise to Rolls-Royce, taking the legendary brand and its cars forward.
Jozef Kabaň's predecessor at Rolls-Royce, Giles Taylor had designed the new Rolls-Royce Phantom and even the Cullinan which is the firm's first ever SUV. We are assuming that those are not some light shoes to fill.
What makes it more challenging for Jozef Kabaň is the fact that Rolls-Royce is not just another car manufacturer in his resume. Rolls-Royce is one of the most if not the most premium car companies in the world, and the British form has kept up their standards from day one of their existence.
The marque's cars are designed to precision and imbibe modern elements while still having elements that hark back to the old ages. Jozef Kabaň therefore needs to be innovative while at the same time has come old-school elements in his design language. He also would be keeping in mind that Rolls-Royce's clients are not just people who have lots of money, but are those who have a taste of heritage and are stewards of the company.
Thoughts On Jozef Kabaň Being Appointed Head Of Design for Rolls-Royce
Since BMW took over in 1998, Rolls-Royce has taken a couple of steps away from traditional design traits. The brand is now targeting young people who can afford their cars with new offerings that would have earlier been counted as sin. Well, the onus is now on Jozef Kabaň to take the marque's design forward. At the moment, it is unclear what his first project will be but it is worth waiting for.
