New Renault Duster BS-VI Spied Testing Ahead Of Launch: Spy Pics & Other Details
Renault India is working on updating its model lineup to comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission norms, well ahead of its implementation on April 1st 2020. Ahead of the implementation of the new emission regulations, the Renault Duster BS-VI has been spied testing in India.
The new Renault Duster BS-VI spy pics from GaadiWaadi showcases the new model completely under camouflage.
However, the images also reveal that Renault has not brought in any exterior styling updates on the upcoming BS-VI compliant model. The new Duster will carry forward the same design as the recently launched facelift version.
Interiors on the test mule also look to remain the same, with no visible updates. However, most of the changes have been made to the engine specifications of the Duster SUV.
Renault currently sells the Duster with a choice of two engine options, this includes a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel (with two state-of-tunes).
The 1.5-litre petrol produces 106bhp and 142Nm of torque and is mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed CVT automatic gearbox.
The 1.5-litre diesel is offered with two state-of-tunes; the lower-spec churns out 85bhp and 200Nm of torque while the higher-spec produces 110bhp and 245Nm of torque.
The lower-spec engine is mated to a five-speed manual and the higher-spec unit is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
However, having said this we expect Renault to replace both these engines with their respective Euro-spec models for the Indian market as well. Renault already has a range of turbo-petrol and diesel engine options in the international market, which are likely to make their way into India as well.
This includes a small 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and a 1.3-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. The 1.0-litre Tce turbo-petrol is expected to replace the 1.5-litre petrol while the 1.3-litre diesel might be used instead of the current 1.5-litre unit.
The new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol produces 100bhp and 160Nm of torque, while the 1.3-litre diesel is offered with two states-of-tune of 115bhp and 160bhp.Both states-of-tune, however, churn out the same 270Nm of torque.
Both the new engines will come mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox. Renault is also contemplating bringing in a dual-clutch automatic option as well.
Thoughts On The Renault Duster BS-VI Model Spied
Renault recently introduced a facelift version of the ageing Duster SUV in the Indian market. The model is currently undergoing testing for the upcoming BS-VI emissions update.
It will be interesting to see if Renault introduces the new engines on the BS-VI model, or will wait for the second-generation SUV expected to launch in the latter part of 2020.
