Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition Revealed
British carmaker Land Rover has revealed the Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition. The SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is the range-topping version of the Range Rover Velar and is also the most powerful variant of the Land Rover SUV. The Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Edition can be ordered in the UK for £86,120 (Rs 80.21 lakhs).
Earlier reports had suggested that the range-topping version of the Velar would bear the SVR badge. However, Land Rover instead opted to use SVAutobiography badge used in its flagship Range Rover SUV in the Velar. The Velar makes use of JLR's largest petrol engine, the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 which is found in cars and SUVs like the Jaguar F-Type SVR and the Range Rover Sport SVR.
The Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition's 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine produces 542bhp and 680Nm of torque which is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The bonkers SVAUtobiography-badged Velar can sprint from 0–100km/h in just 4.5 seconds and will continue to sprint till it tops out at 274km/h.
Land Rover claims that the calibrations for the all-wheel-drive system, active rear locking differential, eight-speed automatic transmission, steering and air suspension are all bespoke to the SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition and help deliver a more focused driving experience. The carmaker also claims its engineers at Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations took 63,900 hours to optimize the handling, ride, and responsiveness of the new Velar SVAutobiography.
The exterior of the Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography has been given a few slight tweaks. The front end features a new bumper with larger air intakes that allow more air into the supercharged V8 engine and help cool the uprated brakes fitted to the newest Land Rover SUV.
The Velar SVAUtobiography also gets larger wheels with 21-inch units as standard. Owners can also specify 22-inch optional wheels that sport a 'Silver Sparkle' finish and diamond-turned edging. The larger wheels also play host to bigger brakes — 395mm (front) and 396mm (rear) diameter discs. The callipers for the larger brakes can be optioned in two colours — red for those who want to stand out and gloss black for a more discreet look.
At the rear, the SVAutobiography variant of the Velar sports quad-exhausts. The new active exhaust system is louder than before and lighter as well. The quad-exhaust system is actually 7.1-kilogrammes lighter than the standard system.
Inside, there are changes as well. These include ventilated front seats with heating, cooling and massaging options along with 20-way adjustment and leather upholstery that can be specified in four different colours. Also seen is the knurled finishing for the infotainment system's dials and rotary gear knob along with a sports steering and aluminium paddle shifters. Owners looking for a more sportier look can opt for the carbon-fibre package.
