2019 Geneva Motor Show: 1873bhp Pininfarina Battista Electric Hypercar Revealed
Mahindra-owned Automobili Pininfarina has revealed the Battista electric hypercar at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The Battista is the first-ever car by Pininfarina as a standalone car manufacturer. The Pininfarina Battista is named after Battista 'Pinin' Farina, who founded Carrozzeria Pinin Farina in 1930.
Production of the Pininfarina Battista will be strictly limited to 150 units with 50 heading to Europe, another 50 to North America and the final 50 to the Middle East and Asia. Each
The Pininfarina Battista is powered by four electric motors, one for each wheel, which combine together to crank out 1,873bhp and 2,300Nm of torque. The Battista features torque vectoring and all-wheel-drive which in turn allows it to rocket from 0-100km/h in under 2 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 350km/h. The powertrain for the Battista was developed by Pininfarina in partnership with Croatian electric hypercar manufacturer Rimac.
The battery pack (from Rimac) for the all-electric Pininfarina Battista is laid out in a T-shape configuration on the hypercar's chassis. The total capacity of the battery pack is 120kWh which Pininfarina claims gives a range of 450 kilometres on a single charge. Pininfarina also states that the Battista will offer DC fast charging. While no rate of charging has been given for the Battista, the same battery pack in the Rimac Concept Two allows of 250kW fast charging which replenishes 80 percent of the battery charge in under 30 minutes.
The Pininfarina Battista features a carbon fibre monocoque chassis with aluminium crash structures at the front and the rear. The body panels on the Pininfarina Battista sports carbon-fibre body panels.
Pininfarina has not revealed any details about the suspension setup of the Battista though it has revealed that the all-electric hypercar features massive 390mm carbon ceramic disc brakes with six-piston callipers on each wheel. The Pininfarina Battista sports 21-inch wheels which are clad in a bespoke version of Pirelli P Zero tyres. The interiors of each Battista sold is expected to be unique though each unit is expected to carry the dual-display instrument cluster/infotainment setup.
Speaking about the new Battista, Paolo Pininfarina, Chairman, Pininfarina SpA, said: "This is genuinely a dream come true. My grandfather always had the vision that one day there would be a stand-alone range of Pininfarina-branded cars. This hypercar will boast world-beating performance, technological innovation and of course elegant styling. For me, we simply had to call it Battista. His dream becomes reality today as we link our glorious past with the future of motoring."
