Panasonic Enters Electric Vehicle Segment — Launches Charging Service For EVs

Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer Panasonic launched its Electric Vehicle charging service, Nymbus, on Wednesday. It has partnered with electric mobility service providers' Smart E and Quick to deploy the Electric Vehicle charging service for 150 Smart E electric three-wheelers and 25 quick two-wheelers in the Delhi NCR region.

Panasonic has invested Rs 50 crore to develop the service, and the EV charging service will be launched in Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Amaravati. In total, it will cater to 3 lakh electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers over the next three years.

Panasonic said that it aims to cater to a million electric two-wheeler and three-wheelers in the next five years with its newly launched service.

Atul Arya, Head of Energy Systems Division, Panasonic India said, "Conceptualized and developed in-house, our charging service is currently meant for two and three wheelers, but we aim to expand that in the near future to other vehicles. We have currently deployed our solutions in Delhi NCR and aim to expand to 25 more cities in the next five years."

The company said that the service could potentially have use cases for electric vehicle fleet owners, e-commerce, food-tech, and logistics companies to manage their fleet more efficiently.

Manish Sharma, President and Chief Executive Officer, Panasonic India said, "With the launch of the E V charging service, Panasonic 1 the first time is venturing into the service domain in energy and e-mobility we are creating an integral Common platform to cater to unsaturated needs of multiple stakeholders and enable faster adoption of electric vehicles in India."
