Nissan Livina MPV Unveiled In Indonesia — Should The Nissan Livina Launch In India?
Nissan has unveiled the all-new Livina MPV in Indonesia. Based on the new-generation Mitsubishi Xpander MPV, the Nissan Livina features the Japanese brand's latest design philosophy which includes the sharp body lines and the signature V-Motion grille. From the looks of it, we think the seven-seater Nissan Livina should launch in India.
Equipped with Nissan's Intelligent Mobility features, the Livina MPV "drives the company's vision to transform the way people live and drive". The all-new Nissan Serena MPV was also unveiled at the same venue.
Speaking at the event, Isao Sekiguchi, President Director of Nissan Indonesia shared, "Today marks the next step in our 50-year journey of delivering safe, smart and sustainable mobility to more people in Indonesia. We build on this heritage by launching two new MPVs, with Indonesia being the first market worldwide to receive the all-new Nissan Livina."
"Nissan's customers demand advanced technologies, strong safety features, as well as comfort and convenience to suit the whole family. We are meeting these demands through Nissan Intelligent Mobility, which is embedded in both vehicles," he further added.
The Nissan Livina comes with smartphone connectivity, navigation, hill-start assist, stability control and traction control. To improve its practicality, the MPV features 12V power outlets in all three rows, while also boasting best-in-class cabin insulation levels. The seats can be titled or folded to create space for more stuff.
Powering the Nissan Livina seven-seater MPV is a 1.5-litre Twin VTC (Variable-valve Timing Control) four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 103bhp and 141Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.
If the Nissan Livina comes to the Indian market, it will most probably sport the existing 1.5-litre K9K DCi diesel found in the new Nissan Kicks (read the review) and various other Renault-Nissan products sold in the country.
Thoughts On The New Nissan Livina
It is too early to comment on whether the Nissan Livina will be launched in India at some point in the future. However, from the looks of it, the Nissan Livina could be a worthy alternative to the likes of the Mahindra Marazzo and the segment-leading Toyota Innova Crysta.
