Nissan India To Export 8,000 Datsun & 65,000 Sunny Cars
Japanese auto manufacturer Nissan announced that they will export over 8,000 Datsun cars, and 65,000 Nissan Sunny cars over the course of the next 14 months. The statement came from a top official from the (RNAIPL) Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt. Ltd..
Mr Biju Balendran, the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer at RNAIPL said that the company was going to export both the Datsun GO CVT and the GO+ CVT models starting in December this year. He also said that Nissan would not phase out the Datsun brand.
Nissan plans to launch a BS-VI complaint Datsun Redi GO at some point during the first quarter of next year. Nissan has invested heavily towards making the Datsun range of cars BS-VI compliant.
Nissan India currently exports their Sunny models, engines, and other components to the Middle East, Egypt, South Africa, Brazil, Indonesia, and Nepal. The demand has increased to 65,000 units from the standard 22,000 they company exports. They expect numbers to increase next year as well. Nissan has also begun exporting SUVs.
Nissan India feels that manufacturing at their Indian facilities is cost effective as compared to other production facilities across the world. Manufacturing in India also helps Nissan offer more affordable cars in the Indian markets.
The current slowdown in the auto industry has had no effect on Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt. Ltd.. RNAIPL manufactured 1.82 lakh units last year and expects to manufacture up to 2.10 lakh units thanks to the large export volumes.

Thoughts About Large Export Volumes For The Datsun And The Nissan Sunny
Looks like Nissan found a way to keep the Datsun brand alive. A lot of manufacturers build in India and export to a lot of South East Asian and African Countries. Nissan has a major presence globe over and they've realised that the best place to manufacture and export is from India. We may not offer ‘easy of setting up bushiness' as a country, but we offer everything else cheaper.
