New Volkswagen Vento Spied Testing — India-Launch Expected Soon

Volkswagen is said to be working on updating the Vento sedan in the Indian market. A fresh set of spy pics from Team-BHP showcase the 2019 Volkswagen Vento testing on the Indian streets, fully camouflaged.

The spy pics of the new Volkswagen Vento facelift showcases just the rear of the sedan. The images show the Vento with minimal changes to the rear section. The rear tail lights remain almost similar to the current model, however, the cluster design has been updated. Apart from that, we can also expect the boot lid and the rear bumpers to be slightly updated as well.

We can also expect the front section of the car to receive minor changes as well. This includes the front bumper, front grille, headlamp cluster and the fog lamp housing as well. Although it is still yet to be confirmed.

The Volkswagen Vento was last updated back in 2015. The facelift of the sedan in 2019 is expected to be launched in India soon. Volkswagen, however, is said to be working on the next-generation Vento, which is scheduled to be introduced in the Indian market in 2021. This facelift in 2019 is just a small step from the German car maker to help the sedan keep its sales volume consistent until the new-generation model is introduced.

The 2021 Volkswagen Vento will also be part of the company's MQB A0 platform. This new architecture is the Indian-spec version of the global MQB platform. The MQB A0 platform will first make its debut in India with an SUV — probably the Volkswagen T-Cross.

Apart from the cosmetic changes, the 2019 Volkswagen Vento is expected to remain unchanged mechanically. This includes three engine options; two petrol and one diesel. The petrol options include 1.2-litre TSI unit and 1.6-litre MPI unit, both producing 105bhp.

The 1.2-litre churns out 174Nm while the 1.6-litre unit produces 153Nm of peak torque. The 1.2-litre engine is further mated to a standard DSG transmission; the 1.6-litre petrol is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

The diesel engine, on the other hand, is a 1.5-litre TDi unit producing 110bhp and 250Nm of torque and comes mated to either a six-speed manual or an optional DSG gearbox.

Thoughts On The New Volkswagen Vento 2019 Facelift

The 2019 Volkswagen Vento facelift is more of a subtle update to the sedan, to help it keep its sales consistent in the Indian market. Volkswagen has also introduced a number of special edition models of the Vento in India, such as the Vento Connect Edition. The Volkswagen Vento rivals the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz and the Honda City in the Indian market.
