2020 Mahindra KUV100 BS-VI Spied Testing Ahead Of Launch Next Year: Spy Pics & Details

Indian automaker Mahindra, is gearing up to introduce their BS-VI models In India. Ahead of its launch, the latest model to have been spotted testing is the KUV100 micro-SUV BS-VI petrol variant.

The spy pic from Rushlane reveal a KUV100 testing with ‘BS6 Petrol' written on the fuel tank lid of the micro-SUV. Mahindra will carry forward the same 1.2-litre petrol engine as seen on the current model to make it BS-VI complaint.

The company had also confirmed earlier that it will not upgrade its existing 1.2 litre diesel engine that powers the current gen KUV100 to meet the upcoming BS-VI emission norms. The deadline for upcoming stricter emission norms is set to April 1, 2020.

The current-gen KUV100's 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 82bhp and 115Nm of torque, while the 1.2-litre diesel engine produces 77bhp and 190Nm of torque. Both engines come mated to a standard five-speed manual gearbox. We expect the power figures of the petrol engine to remain the same, when it is made BS-VI compliant.

The current-gen KUV100 features conventional headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, clear lens tail-lamps, power operated ORVMs, 15-inch diamond cut dual-tone alloys, a roof spoiler, and more. We expect the same features to be carried with the BS-VI variant, but with minor cosmetic changes.

On the inside the micro-SUV features a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation. The gear lever is mounted on the dashboard providing more leg-space at the front. Other features include, keyless entry, drive seat height adjust, under seats and floor storage; among others. The KUV100 is offered in two seating configurations, a six-seater and a conventional five-seater options.

The safety net on the tall-rider include, airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts, speed sensing door lock and more. The KUV100 also features a micro-hybrid system that shuts off the engine when idling and starts back on when depressed the clutch pedal. Again, we expect the company to carry forward all these features to the upcoming BS-VI model with slight revisions made to the interiors of the car.

The KUV100 once launched will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Renault Kwid and the Datsun redi-GO, which is also scheduled for a major overhaul in the next year.

Thoughts About The KUV100 BS-VI Spied Testing

KUV100 is the entry-level model from the company and Mahindra will look to update the model from the interior and exterior, to compete against the newly launched rivals in the segment. We are waiting for a Mahindra to announce the dates for launching their BS-VI models. There will be launches happening in quick succession with various BS-VI models of the company's current line-up soon
