2020 Hyundai Creta (ix25) Specs And Features Revealed Ahead Of India Launch
Korean auto manufacturer Hyundai, is said to be working on updating their Creta SUV. The new-gen Hyundai ix25 dubbed as the Creta in Indian market has been unveiled in China. Ahead of its expected showcase at the 2020 AutoExpo in India, here is a quick look at what we can expect from the new-gen Creta.
We expect the design changes made to the second-gen ix25 to be carried to the next-gen Creta sold in Indian market as well. A new set of images from Autohome reveal the new changes received by the second-gen Creta (ix25).
The new-gen Hyundai Creta (ix25) is 30mm longer, 10mm wider, and 8mm shorter, as compared to the current-gen model. These dimensions could be revised for Indian market to accommodate more ground clearance.
The next-gen Hyundai Creta (ix25) features the company's new design language that is also currently featured on the Hyundai Venue and the Palisade SUV which is sold in the international markets. The new design sees the next-gen ix25 featuring a flat hood and a curvy nose that has a more rounded look, as compared to the straight and sleek styling on the current-gen model.
Front of the new-gen SUV is revised with the company's larger "cascading grille" design and a split headlamp setup made up of slim shaped LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) positioned at the top and main headlamps cluster positioned below in a separate enclosure. A small light is positioned between to connect the DRL and the main headlamps as well.
The new rear design of the next-gen SUV features a light-bar running across the length of the bootlid connecting the wrap-around LED tail lamps on either side. The rear of the next-gen SUV gets rounded design theme as well. The new ix25 gets square design wheel arches and chunky alloy wheels that looks similar to the Venue's design, however, we expect the India-spec Creta to get a more subtle alloy design.
The interiors of the new-gen Creta (ix25) has been revised with a new 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system mounted on the centre console and angled towards the driver. The new infotainment system will also replace the physical buttons used for climate control, making for a clean dashboard design.
Other features expected on the new Hyundai Creta include, a tilt adjustable steering, ventilated front seats, a tyre pressure monitor, an electric parking brake, a flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls for the audio system, telephony and other functions, along with a push-button start function and cruise control.
The new-gen Creta will feature the same BS-VI compliant, 1.5-litre engine options as the Kia Seltos. The 1.5-litre petrol motor produces 114bhp and 144Nm of torque and the 1.5-litre diesel engine churns out 114bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. However, the next-gen Creta is also expected to be offered with BS-VI compliant 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine that is featured on the Seltos GT Line as well.
The next-gen Creta when launched will rival against the Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500, Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks. The new Hyundai Creta is most likely to make its world debut sometime in February next year.
Thoughts About The Next-Gen Hyundai Creta (ix25)
The Hyundai Creta was first launched in 2015 and has registered good sales numbers with over 5 lakh units of the SUV in India. However, with the newly launched feature-rich rivals, sales for Creta has been tough. The company looks to change this, with the launch of next-gen Creta. We hope the new design language of the next-gen SUV would appeal to the Indian market.
