New Honda Civic 2019 — Here Are The Top Things To Know About The Sporty Honda Sedan
Honda Cars India is all set to launch the all-new Civic in the Indian market. The sporty sedan has been scheduled to go on sale in the country sometime next month. Honda will be bringing back the Civic nameplate to India after a gap of 6 years. The new Honda Civic comes updated with the brand's latest design language, similar to all its other products on offer in India.

Honda has revealed all the specifications for the upcoming Civic, apart from the variants and prices. Let's look into every specification of the car in more detail.
Power And Torque
The all-new Honda Civic comes with two engine options; 1.8-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel. The 1.8-litre petrol unit has been retained from the previous model (although tuned to comply with the latest emission norms). The diesel engine, on the other hand, has been borrowed from the recently launched CR-V.
The petrol unit is a 1,799cc four-cylinder OHC i-VTEC engine producing 141bhp and 174Nm of peak torque. While the diesel unit is a 1,597cc four-cylinder DOHC i-DTEC engine churning out 120bhp and 300Nm of torque.
The petrol engine comes mated to a standard seven-step CVT gearbox (with paddle shifters) while the diesel engine receives a six-speed manual transmission, without the option of an automatic.
Mileage And Fuel Tank Capacity
The new Honda Civic comes with an ARAI certified claimed mileage figure of 16.5km/l for the petrol and 26.8km/l for the diesel variant. This is the best-in-class mileage figures in terms of diesel engine offerings in the segment.
Both the petrol and diesel variants of the all-new Civic further comes with a fuel tank capacity of 47-litres. This gives the diesel variant an impressive range of over 1000km on a single tank of fuel!
Overall Dimensions & Boot Space
The new Honda Civic although a sporty sedan, can comfortably accommodate five passengers. Here are the overall dimensions of the all-new Honda Civic:

- Height: 1,433mm
- Wheelbase: 2,700mm
The boot space on the new Honda Civic is an impressive 430-litres. In terms of weight, the petrol variant weighs in at 1,300kg while the diesel is 53kg heavier at 1,353kg.
Ground Clearance, Tyre Size & Turning Radius
Honda is yet to officially announce the exact ground clearance for the new Civic. However, the international-spec model comes with a ground clearance of 170mm (unladen). We can expect the same for the India-spec Civic as well.
The new Honda Civic sits on 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/50 R17 tyre profiles with disc brakes on all four ends. The turning radius of the new Civic comes in at an impressive 5.85mm.
Colours
The new Honda Civic comes in a range of five different colour options - Platinum White Pearl, Radiant Red, Modern Steel, Lunar Silver and Golden Brown.

The Civic nameplate gained a lot of popularity in the Indian market with the previous generation model. The car was known for its sporty and stylish appeal. Honda discontinued the Civic in 2013, however, after a gap of six years, the company will finally be bringing back the Civic to India. Once launched in the country, the all-new Honda Civic will rival the likes of the Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra and the Toyota Corolla Altis.
