Compared to the old model, the new Honda Civic is a totally different package. Full-LED headlamps, sportier styling, interiors loaded with all the latest electronics and features; 17-inch wheels, etc., will fill the list of equipment. If rumours are correct, the 2019 Honda Civic will be available in only a single trim, but with two engine choices: 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol and a new 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel.
The petrol engine makes 140bhp and 174Nm of torque while the new diesel unit will mark its debut in the country with 120bhp and almost 300Nm. Transmission duties will be carried out by either a six-speed manual on the diesel variant and a seven-step CVT on the petrol-powered Honda CVT.
Once launched, the all-new Honda Civic will go head-to-head with the Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla Altis and Hyundai Elantra. The Elantra is currently a bit outdated compared to the other sedans, but a successor to it is on its way — know more details here.
With the launch of the new Honda Civic getting closer, many are eagerly waiting to get their hands on the latest iteration of one of the most iconic and sportiest sedans sold in India till date. Expected prices of the 2019 Honda Civic are in the range of Rs 18 - 22 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
Thoughts On The New Honda Civic
The new-generation Honda Civic sedan will invite better business opportunities in the premium automotive segment. Currently, there is a huge gap between the top-of-the-line Honda CR-V (if the CBU Honda Accord isn't considered) and the other models from the brand. The new Honda Civic will fit perfectly in between them.
