New Car Launches In India In January 2019 — Here Is The List Of Upcoming Cars This Month!
2019 has arrived and with it comes new cars. Various car manufacturers in the country have already announced the launch date for their new products in the market. New cars this month comes in all segments, varying from the new Maruti WagonR to the flagship BMW X7, with the Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks and the new Toyota Camry in between.
A total of six cars are scheduled to launch in this month alone. So here is the list of new cars launching in India in January 2019.
New Maruti WagonR
Maruti Suzuki is all set to introduce their new WagonR hatchback in the Indian market on the 23rd of January. The new Maruti WagonR will come with a number of new updates and features, including a completely fresh design.
Mechanically, the new WagonR will carry forward the same engine and transmission options. This includes a 1.0-litre petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. An optional AMT transmission will also be available. Recently, there were reports regarding the undisguised spy images of the upcoming WagonR hatchback, which showcased its new design language.
Nissan Kicks
The Kicks is said to launch in the Indian market sometime this month, although the exact date is yet to be confirmed. The Kicks will sit between the Terrano and the Duster SUV and is also expected to replace the Terrano altogether.
The Indian-spec Kicks SUV is completely different from that available in the international market. The Kicks SUV will come with a 1.5-litre K9K DCi diesel engine, similar to the one seen on the Terrano. It will come mated to a six-speed manual, without the option of an automatic gearbox. Tata Harrier
The Tata Harrier is probably one of the most awaited cars in the Indian market. Ever since Tata showcased the concept (H5X) at the 2018 Auto Expo, there has been good interest towards the SUV.
The Tata Harrier will hit the Indian streets on the 23rd of January and will go against the likes of the Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV500 and the Hyundai Creta. The SUV comes with a new 2.0-litre diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. We have driven the Tata Harrier SUV — read our review here.
Toyota Camry Hybrid
The new Toyota Camry Hybrid will be launched in India on the 18th of January. The sedan is based on the brand's TGNA platform, the same seen on the Lexus ES 300h (read our review here).
The new Toyota Camry hybrid has been caught testing multiple times in India. It will come with the same engine and transmission, seen on the previous generation models. Once launched in India, it will rival the likes of the Skoda Superb and the Honda Accord.
Mercedes-Benz V-Class
Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch its V-Class MPV in the Indian market on the 24th of January. The Mercedes-Benz V-Class will be imported into the country as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) from Spain, with no plans of local assembly anytime soon.
The V-Class will come with a host of features and equipment. It will also feature the same 2.0-litre diesel powertrain as seen on the current generation E-Class sedan. Once launched in India, it is expected to be priced similar to that of the E-Class as well.
BMW X7
The BMW X7 is the first seven-seater SUV offering from the German brand. The BMW will bring its new flagship SUV on the 31st January to the Indian market.
Available in three variants, BMW will initially launch the X7 in just the top-end M 50d variant, with the lower-spec trims being introduced at a later stage. Once launched, the BMW X7 will rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLS and the Audi Q7 in India.
Thoughts On The New Car Launches Of January 2019
2019 will bring in a number of new cars, updates and facelifts throughout the year. However, the year will start off with the launch of six new cars in the first month. Apart from the above six, there are also a number of other cars, yet to arrive in the Indian market.
