Google has released a list of the top-searched car models in the Indian market for the year 2019. The list of google's top-trending searches is available every year, in various categories from around the world.
Based on these reports from Google, we can see that the Maruti Suzuki Baleno has generated the maximum interest among Indians over the past 12 months. Following the Maruti Baleno closely is the Hyundai Venue compact-SUV.
The list doesn't rely on the sales of a particular model. It is, however, based mostly on the search volume of various models, variants and other parameters. Having said that, here are Google's top-10 trending cars in India for 2019.
(Click on the model name to get the specifications, prices and all other details)
10. Toyota Glanza
The Toyota Glanza is the first re-badged model to be introduced in the market from the Toyota-Suzuki partnership. The Toyota Glanza was launched earlier this year and has surprisingly performed well in the Indian market, positioned as the second-best premium hatchback in the country.
Based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the Toyota Glanza carries forward the same design, engine and features. However, Toyota offers certain differences in terms of variants, warranty and other specifics; helping it stand out from the Baleno.
The Glanza is powered by the same BS-VI compliant engine as on the Baleno. This includes a 1.2-litre petrol engine, mated to a mild-hybrid technology.
The Hyundai Grand i10 has been in the Indian market for quite a while now. However, the company recently introduced a new generation model of the Grand i10, called the NIOS. The new Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS is offered alongside the standard model and comes with a host of features and equipment.
The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS is also offered with slightly premium pricing than the standard model. The hatchback is offered with a choice of both 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engine options; both compliant with the upcoming BS6 emission norms. The Hyundai Grand i10 is offered with a starting price of Rs 5 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
The Renault Triber is a compact-MPV offering from the French brand in the Indian market. The Renault Triber comes with a host of features and equipment, which along with affordable pricing, makes it a very attractive offering in the market.
Renault has been struggling with sales in the Indian market for the past few years now. Their Kwid has been the only product which is consistently bringing in volume sales.
However, Renault hopes that the Triber will be able to improve the companies fortunes in the country; and so far it does seem to be performing well.
7. Honda Civic
The ‘Civic' has been an iconic model in India. The Japanese brand recently brought back the Honda Civic model in India, with the latest-generation sedan. The car is offered with a 1.8-litre petrol automatic engine; replacing the old 1.6-litre unit.
The Honda Civic since its launch in India has become an extremely popular model among driving enthusiasts. The mid-size sedan from Honda has also been performing well in the market, overtaking all its competition in the segment, to become the best-selling mid-size sedan in the country.
6. Kia Seltos
The Kia Seltos was launched back in August this year. The Seltos is the very first product from the Korean brand in the Indian market and has already become the best-selling SUV in the country.
The sharp design, sporty cabin with a host of segment-first features, along with the strong performing engine options; have made the Seltos the best-SUV currently in the Indian market. The SUV even climbed the ranks of the best-selling cars in India recently, registering over 14,000 units of sales per month.
With its sharp sales rise in India, Kia Motors have managed to become the fourth biggest brand in the country in terms of market share with just one product. The company is now preparing for the launch of its second model, the Carnival MPV next month.
The Mahindra XUV300 is the latest compact-SUV offering from the brand in the Indian market. The Mahindra XUV300 is offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. The SUV rivals the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport and the Tata Nexon in the Indian market.

The MG Hector offers a bold design, host of features, strong driving characteristics and plenty of room inside; making it a very attractive offering. However, the company has been struggling slightly to meet the demands in the Indian market with production numbers; taking its waiting period to over 4 months.
Coming to the top-3 most trending car models in the Indian market, we start off with the Toyota Fortuner. We do admit, we are a bit surprised with the Fortuner being on the list. The SUV has been on sale in the Indian market for quite a while now.
The Toyota Fortuner continues to be powered by the 2.7-litre petrol and 2.8-litre diesel offerings. Both engines come mated to a manual and automatic transmission with the optional 4X4 drive system.
The Hyundai Venue is among the most recent launches from the brand in the Indian market. It is also the first compact-SUV to be introduced in the Indian market. The Hyundai Venue also debuts the brand's ‘Blue Link' connectivity technology, which will be introduced on all cars from the brand going forward.

Here is a list of the top-10 most searched cars in India in 2019 according to Google.
|1||Maruti Suzuki Baleno|
|9||Hyundai Grand i10|
It is interesting to see that many other major cars such as the Tata Harrier, Tata Altroz, Hyundai Kona EV and the MG eZS SUV were left out of the top-10 most-searched list. However, with the 2020 Auto Expo coming up, we can expect more electric vehicles in the list next year.
