Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Set For 2020 India Launch

Mitsubishi India is all set to make a big comeback in the Indian market. The Japanese auto giant is planning to bring some of its models from the existing global portfolio to the Indian market. The first one that is making it's way here is the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. We expect the vehicle to launch in 2020.

According to GaadiWaadi, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will make its India debut sometime during 2020. This will be the first vehicle Mitsubishi launches sine the Renault Nissan alliance's acquisition of Mitsubishi a couple of years ago. Nissan acquired a 34 per cent stake in the ailing Japanese car company.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will be the fourth model in the company's SUV lineup, which currently includes the Outlander, the Montero and the Pajero Sport. The company currently imports CKD kits of the Outlander and the Pajero Sport and assembles it at Hindustan Motors' facility in Tamil Nadu. The Montero, on the other hand, comes as a CBU. The Eclipse Cross is slated to be brought here as a CKD units.

Mitsubishi will be required to add over-speed alert alarms to the safety package of the Eclipse Cross in order to comply with the safety standards set by the Government of India. The crossover styled SUV will be positioned in the Rs 15-22 lakh price segment, and will compete against the Jeep Compass, the Hyundai Tucson, the Tata H7X and the Mahindra XUV500.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will be positioned in the above-the-mass-market segment. The crossover styled SUV looks promising enough, and may bring lost glory back to Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi has offered some really iconic cars in the country, which include the Mitsubishi Lancer and the Mitsubishi Pajero SFX. It will be interesting to see if the Eclipse Cross can revive the company's fortunes in the country.

Thoughts About The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

Well the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a fairly good looking SUV. It somewhat looks like the Hyundai Venue with a different front end. While we're not entirely sure about the colour of the vehicle in the picture, we're really hoping it does well in the market. In addition, it will nice to see more Mitsubishi cars on the roads. The brand was once really iconic and well known. All the very best to Mitsubishi, we wish them luck!
