MG Hector Is A Lot Bigger Than The Hyundai Tucson — Check Out The Latest Spy Pic
MG Hector SUV’s spy images out again. The new MG Motors SUV in India, the Hector, will launch by mid-2019. Check out the spy pics.
The latest spy image of the new MG Hector SUV clearly proves that it is a lot bigger than the Hyundai Tucson and is almost the same size as a Honda CR-V. The Indian automotive market is eagerly waiting for the new MG Motor Hector to make its official debut, sometime by mid-2019.
It was only recently when the British-origin brand (owned by SIAM) confirmed the name of the SUV to be 'MG Hector'. They also released a TVC on it — watch it here.
The image shared by Autocar India shows the MG Hector trying to camouflage with the surroundings in the worst way possible. Conveniently enough, there is a Hyundai Tucson and a Honda CR-V parked behind it; giving an opportunity to compare the Hector's dimensions with them.
Despite its misleading body covers, we can still make out some design details of the MG Hector. At the front, traces of the wide honeycomb grille, 'MG' badge dual-headlamp (LED) setup and the large bumper can be observed. In case you didn't know, the MG Hector is based on the Baojun 530 sold in China. MG Motor India has a lot planned for our market — know more details here.
The wheels also look somewhat similar to the other two SUVs. The Honda CR-V comes with 18-inch wheels while the Hyundai Tucson sports 17-inchers.
Even though we do not have an image of the interiors, expect the Hector to feature a host of equipment such as a 360-degree parking camera, a large touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, etc.
Regarding specifications, the new MG Hector will be available in both petrol and diesel formats. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 2.0-litre diesel units are expected to produce close to 160bhp/200Nm and 170bhp/340Nm, respectively. The transmission system will strictly be an automatic which drives the front wheels.
Thoughts On The New MG Hector
With an expected starting price of around Rs 20 lakh ex-showroom, the upcoming MG Hector SUV could be a game changer in its segment. Considering the strategic plans of SAIC for India, the MG Hector will probably have very minimal shortcomings as well. What do you expect from MG Motor? Let us know in the comment section below.
