MG Hector Gets 8,000 New Bookings In Nine Days: Company Says Demand Has Increased
MG Motor India announced reopening of bookings for the Hector SUV last month, and the company says they have received 8,000 new bookings for the SUV. The company had stopped accepting bookings in July, less than a month since the Hector was launched.
Mr Gaurav Gupta said that the 8,000 bookings had been received within a nine day period and there were more bookings coming in. The statement came during the inauguration of the company's second flagship experience store at Mumbai.
The MG Hector was launched on 27 June and the SUV became an overnight hit. The company put a halt to bookings after receiving 28,000 bookings. MG Motor India plans to start a second shift at their manufacturing facility starting November.
The MG Hector is available in four petrol variants and four diesel variants. The petrol models are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that produces 141bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and a six-speed DCT automatic.
The diesel models are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces 169bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The MG Hector is priced between Rs 12.18 lakh and Rs 16.88 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
In other MG related news, the company has just inaugurated its second flagship experience store at Prabhadevi in Mumbai. The aim behind the new store is to redefine t]he traditional car buying experience in the country.
The new store features a video wall with 16 television sets, an engineering wall that displays parts from the SUV, a configurator wall that allows for potential buyers to customize cars before buying them, and also features a cafe. To read more about the store, click here.
Thoughts About MG Receiving Fresh 8,000 Bookings For The Hector
The Hector is a fantastic SUV and is doing very well for MG Motor India. A temporary halt to booking may have cost the company a few buyers, but we think it was a very smart move. This way MG has managed to keep production quality up, and has kept delivery deadlines in place. Round two has started with 8,000 booking and these numbers are set to increase.
