MG Hector’s 7-Seater Version To Be Launched Before March 2020
The 7-seater variant of the MG Hector will be launched in the Indian market within the first quarter of 2020. MG Motor entered the Indian market with the launch of the MG Hector on 27 June, 2019. It is easily the largest SUV in its segment, yet it has been launched only in a 5-seater version.
MG Motor will change that by launching the 7-Seater variant in March 2020. The MG Hector was one of the most-awaited SUVs to be launched in the Indian market. Its success is shown in the fact that the SUV clocked more than 10,000 bookings in just 23 days. Well, MG Motor isn't going to stop at that.
The iconic British marque in-fact revealed its future plans for the Indian market and surprisingly, MG Motor is focusing solely on SUVs. MG Motor revealed that it would be launching four new SUVs in the Indian market over the next two years.
The SUV segment forms a sizeable chunk of the Indian automotive market and it is still growing. Therefore MG Motor seems to have decided to exploit this very fact. The 7-seater version of the MG Hector is one of the four upcoming MG SUVs.
The MG Hector is based on the Baojun 530 SUV that is on sale in the Chinese market and the Baojun 530 comes in both 5-seater and 7-seater variants. Therefore, the 5-seater and 7-seater versions of the MG Hector will measure just the same in terms of exterior dimensions. The MG Hector currently measures 4,655mm in length, 1,835mm in width and 1,760mm in height.
These dimensions are expected to remain the same for the 7-seater version as well. The upcoming version of the SUV will also be powered by the same engines that currently power the Hector. It includes a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a maximum power output of 143bhp and a peak torque output of 250Nm.
The 2.0-litre turbo-diesel on the other hand produces 173bhp and 350Nm. There is also a mild hybrid variant on offer that is powered by the same petrol engine with the addition of a 48V motor. A 6-speed manual transmission is offered as standard with both engine options, while a 7-speed DCT is optional on the petrol variant.
Thoughts On 7-Seater MG Hector To Be Launched Before March 2020
The 5-seater MG Hector is priced between Rs 12.18 to Rs 16.88 lakh, ex-showroom. The 7-seater version is expected to be priced upto Rs 1 lakh more. It is obvious that Indians love SUVs. What we love even more are SUV with more utility. The 7-seater variant will easily outsell the 5-seater variant, hence MG has spaced out the launches.
